I just find it to be really well written and a good change of pace from most Sparity stories I read. Most of the time it’s the typical “Spike loves Rarity, and he tries to get her affections but this time it works!” Or “she’s secretly had a crush on him this whole time!”

I mean that’s not inherently bad by any means, I like plenty of stories with those plot lines, but yours just feels like a breath of fresh air, you take the characters as they are and you evolve them naturally. It feels like a romance that needs to be earned, the characters aren’t ready yet, they need to grow, and while that may be slow it’ll make the end result all the more worth it.

Also as a lover of angst, I gotta say reading that latest chapter was also a breath of fresh air. Genuine angst, not some “oh I’ve realized Rarity will never like me!” (Not that those are bad, I’ve just seen so much of them), but emotions that feel raw, potent, justified. (Which makes sense given your author’s notes, and I am sorry you’ve had to go through something similar.)
