So, yeah. The Hobbit rocks. Just so you know.

Of course, you should know this going in: in case you never read the book, The Hobbit is not The Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings was a grand, faux-historical epic; The Hobbit is a much simpler children's story. Don't go in expecting the same movie, but with more dwarves. It's its own thing.

Uh, hey, I see we have a site update.

Been a couple of weeks now since I checked in. I didn't even do a little episode review thing, my main method of letting people know I'm alive here. Frankly, the writer's block continues to persist something terrible, and I've been trying to distract myself with other things until it goes away. To wit, this will be a long post covering a range of things I've been spending time with/thinking too hard about/wasting time on instead of writing.

Just finished reading the first issue of the new Friendship is Magic comic, and I think I'll be sticking around for awhile. I'm not a huge comic book guy--I haven't bought anything from DC since the New 52 reboot, though I hear Aquaman and the Bat-Books are pretty awesome, and the only Marvel series I've been keeping up with is Hawkey, because Matt Fraction--so I don't know how qualified I am to review it, but what the hell.

Hey there, folks. Not much to report on the Prince front, sadly. Going back and rereading what I've got, I'm... seriously less-than-pleased. The one Cheerilee section I've got so far in particular is pretty bad. Then again, I may just be nitpicking myself into paralysis. I dunno. Stupid brain.

Hey, just checking in again. I've been having some severe issues with my 'net, apparently and inexplicably brought on by the weather finally turning cold here. (I seriously don't know how, as "cold" for central California means around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and I thought electronics performed better at low temperatures, but there it is.) My ISP seems to have cleared up whatever the problem is, though, so I'm back! Woo.
