As you probably didn't know, I am a fan an of open-source software.

There is one place where I feel that it fails badly, however: the desktop environment. (But Window$ 8+ has messed that up too, so it's not like there's a loss. You may actually note that Windows has many of the same "features" that I complain about. Also, the less said about 8, the better. I've never seen a worse start menu, and 10 hasn't completely recovered.)
