I think I have found evidence that at least partially confirms my theory on Telephones existing in Equestria. It comes from this scene in "Rarity Takes Manehatten":

That certainly looks like a phone on that desk. So I guess that proves that, at the very least, phones exist in Equestria, how wide spread they are might be an argument for another day.

I just wanted to throw something out there, that while it doesn't seem like it, phones most likely exist in Equestria.
