Should also check out [ Appleseed ] by Masamune Shirow. (Same guy that did Ghost in the Shell, but watch the computer animated one that was released more recently than the early 90s version.)

Masamune is a master at animating tank / gun battles, cities, post WW3 cities. This was the anime that had me dive into anime in the 80s. The Manga is exceptional.

Just wanted to let you all know I posted my first chapter of my first story, "Ryuuzan, A Gryphon Silenced" (it's under review and awaiting approval.... chews nails nervously @.@)

Just a small warning, there is some bloodshed and violence in the first chapter, but clears up afterward. Nothing like horror flicks of the 80's but wished to convey the warning nonetheless. ^^

After all this time, I will be starting my own story. No self inserts or hyoomans in Equestria just yet.

It's a story of a gryphon that knows a threat is forming against the crown, but how can he warn any pony when he cannot talk, and without being viewed as a threat himself.
