In my time here, I have noticed that in so many “debates” comments are laden with insults and childish mudslinging, which would indicate to me that many here have little to no training in logic. As such, I thought it necessary to give some exposition of logic, starting with the common fallacies.
1. Straw-man: an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not advanced by that opponent.
