Oh, don't worry about the banners. They used to be displayed at the top of the page when you visited the site, but now your user information goes there instead. Knighty just left the information about them up in the link at the bottom of the page to thank the artists who had allowed them to be used on the site over the last three years. You can't use them for anything anymore, but they are nice to visit and look at.

1610121 im sorry if this is late (its 12:30 for me) but what are the banners and what can they be used for? :moustache:

You are most welcome! I'm glad I could help you out, and I hope that you'll jump right in and enjoy the stories and the community here on the site.

Yup, you're using the Reply button correctly!:twilightsheepish:

Okay, you have choices here. Both involve you looking at the title page of the story you want to keep track of. This is the screen that comes up when you click on the story somewhere in the site. It has the name of the story, the cover art, and the list of chapters. Look above the title and cover art. Do you see the four symbols? They are Follow(Star), Read It Later(Clock), Track (Ribbon), and Ellipses (Add to Other Bookshelf). Each of these allows you to keep track of stories that you have read, or are reading which are incomplete:

1.) Fave (Star) is the most important. Use this one to give the story a "vote" above an upvote on the story itself. This gives it weight when people are searching for similar stories, adds to its popularity, and notifies the author. It also automatically sends the story to your "Favorites" bookshelf. It will tell you when a story updates (adds anew chapter.) Use this for the stories that you think are the very best (hopefully a lot of mine!:twilightsheepish:)

2.) Read it Later (Clock) just places it on your "Read It Later" bookshelf. It doesn't notify you of updates or anything.

3.) Tracking (Ribbon) lets you know that the story has updated... and not much else.

4.) Add to Other Bookshelf (Ellipses) does exactly what it says on the tin.

I hope this helps!
