This is Rakni here, with an update on ODaM.

After the monster chapter and editing nightmare that was chapter 7, I decided to take a few days off writing to focus on my studies. I am back to writing now, and while progress is relatively slow, there is definitely progress. If I hold true to my assertion to make chapters of 3000-ish word, then you can say I'm about halfway done. No idea how long it'll take, or if I end up doing a longer chapter, but there it is.

I will continue work on the next chapter, but at the moment it's bare-bones, so it'll be a while. I'm not doing any more of these monster chapters for some time, though.

Time for another update, to reassure you gentle readers that I am not dead, but still working.

Today's news: Chapter 7 has been little more then halfway edited, and progress is going forwards. I still can't give you a deadline, but it's progress. I am writing on chapter 8 in the meantime.

Since I know from experience how frustrating it can be when an author goes silent, here's an update on my ODaM progress: The chapter is roughly a fifth of the way edited.

The problem here is that the thing is 29 pages long, and with real life happening around me and my editor, it takes a while to properly edit.

The draft for chapter 7 is completed and out to the editors now. But this is a massive chapter (ten thousand words pre-editing!) and I don't know how long the editing process is going to take. Rest assured that the next chapter is coming, but I can't give you a deadline.

I am writing chapter 7 of ODaM as we speak. Let's just say the chapter is growing on me.

As in I have 6000 words! And I'm not even close to done yet! Goodgodwhatishappening?!

Anyway, I don't know when this behemoth will be completed, and writing so many words makes me super paranoid that I've made critical mistakes somewhere, but I'm working on it! I'm not giving up!

I have to say, the response I've gotten to my fic here is beyond belief. I had no idea this little story, the first one I've ever published, would be thought so highly of by so many. Thank you all very much for the support you've given me here, it motivates me to write like nothing else I've experienced.
