They can become too linear. Especially when you point out everything that is happening, but isn't that what you want? After all, it's not like we're trying to subtly imply the characters are fighting. One of the biggest mistakes people make in action scenes is that they forget the aspect of time. What I mean is, there has to be a reaction to every action, so ideally every hit someone deals has to be followed with a response. Also, using quick past tense verbs gives with some well placed

As much as I love action adventure fics, I never considered writing a Daring Do one. I suppose I'd need to incorporate a mix of mystery and thrill in there as well, considering the nature of the character, but I think I could pull it off. Just need a cheesy generic Indiana Jones rip off title...
