More Than A Best Friend

Complete and utter shock
How could I not be?
When my best friend just falls out of the sky?

I didn't want to believe
But I had to
Seeing you
So lifeless on the ground

All of those good times we spent together
All of those good memories we shared
Tell me Spitfire
Did you think I forgot?

"Spitz! Wanna go get popcorn and have a sleepover at mine tonight?"
"Sure Fleets I'll go tell my mom!"

That night was the best
All of the fun we had
The scary stories we shared

"Guess what?!" Spitfire ecstatically asked her bff.
"I have something really SUPER DUPER exciting to tell you, but you go first!" I was really hyped to tell her about the letter I received this morning...
"THE WONDERBOLTS WANT ME TO AUDITION!!!!" Spitfire squealed loudly,
"OMYGOSH ME TOO!!"

Remember how happy
How happy we were?
When we got accepted?

"All of the cadets have been given proper consideration, however, this year 5 cadets showed amazing skills. Soarin, Spitfire, Fleetfoot, Misty Fly and Rapidfire, you have all been accepted into the Wonderbolts. Congratulations!"

Those were the the best news
I have ever received
In my life

I'm sorry
We had a fight
I'm sorry I never got to apologise
I'm sorry I couldn't catch you
Like I promised

I will never be the same
No one ever will
No one could ever replace you

And I promise
The next time you fall
I'll be there to catch you...
