Generosity (Rarity)

I walk through the marketplace,
My makeup perfectly applied.
When the ponies see my face,
I can sense the jealousy in their eyes.
There goes the vainest mare in town,
Lily whispers with a smirk.
She desires so greatly to wear the crown,
But coldly dismisses her neighbors worth.
I'll show them they were wrong about me,
I'll show them generosity.

I sit alone at my sewing table,
When Candy shyly enters the door.
She confesses that she is unable,
To pay for the gown that she bought from my store.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not surprised.
She is, after all, unemployed.
Remembering Lily, I defy,
Her cruel words and bring Candy joy.
Even if it ruins me,
I'll show them generosity.

Shoeshine finishes cleaning my house,
And turns to me for her fee.
I can tell she thinks I'm a selfish louse,
And she doesn't expect to get much from me.
She clears her throat and stares at me,
Her magenta eyes coldly glare.
Towards her, I levitate a fire ruby,
To prove that I'm the better mare.
The town will stop judging me,
I'll show them generosity.

Once more, I walk through the marketplace,
My stride is strong and proud.
But the confident smile upon my face,
Dissolves with the whispers of the crowd.
Daisy and Rose are laughing again,
As Lily recounts tales of my vanity.
She's only kind for personal gain,
We're all just tools to Rarity.
I know now that she's right about me,
Why am I generosity?
