Lunar Butterflies

Chapter 1 : The discovery

It was just after dusk when Luna had begun fallowing a young girl with long pink hair. It had been four days since this began and each night the girl dissipated into the night without a trace. It was simple curiosity about why someone would take strolls at night like this that drew Luna to fallow her. But this time she had found something that greatly displeased her and wish she had not. The young girl was curled up under a tree crying. Her head buried into her arms and tears had stained the ground. 'something very painful must have happened...' Luna thought as she retreated she felt guilty for finding her and was about to approach when she realized that she did not know what to say or do for a moment she watched. She turned and was walking away thinking about what she had found.

Back at the castle it was still dead night and it would be a little while yet before anyone except the night guard would be awake. She sighed she did not want to wait for Cadance to wake but it seemed she had no other option. She laid down her head on her pillow and started thinking about the girl more and more. She closed her eyes and wished she could see the girl smile if that is all she got out of the girl it would be enough. which lead to thoughts of who she was.

The next morning Luna walked down the hallways of the castle searching for Cadance or Celestia to talk to about the issue she stumbled upon. She ended up near Cadance's bedroom and slowly knocked on the door. Shining Armor opened it. 'of course he would..he is her husband...' she had not thought about that but perhaps it would not matter in the end. "Good Morning," Luna said before looking down at her feet she was rather nervous. "may I talk to princess Cadance."

Shining Armor was taken aback normally Princess Luna just ordered everyone around when she wanted something so when she asked he knew something must be up. He nodded "She is in the bathroom right now,"-He steped out of the way as he spoke.-"Why don't you come in and wait I am sure she wont be long."

Luna nodded and walked inside the room and looked about nervously.She still had no idea how to ask the question she had. But with most of her problems they usually could be solved by talking it out with her long enough for a fix to be discovered. She looked up and noticed Shining Armor was looking at her in a worried kind of way. She was about to open her mouth to speak but Cadance had opened the door and entered.

She lowered her head slightly before speaking "Good morning Princess Luna how was your evening?" the question was gentle and sincere she was actually curious as to what had happened last night to bring the princess to her like this.

Luna looked down and spoke softly "It.was well till i stumbled upon a very unsettling image." at her words she still had not properly explained so she continued not letting either Shinning Armor or Cadance ask what she saw. "A young girl crying in the night i didnt want to scare her but this sight worried me."

Cadance knew of the perception people had about Luna and were still very scared of her. Now as a princess it could be said that it was their job to help their subjects have enjoyable lives so it was normal if a princess wanted to enter a persons life like that. "What did the girl look like?" Cadance asked, it seemed to be a good idea to get more info.

Luna had hid her face in her hair as she spoke, "Long pink hair, A long sleeved yellow shirt with butterflies on it....." only to be interrupted by Shinning Armor.

"Wait, that sounds like Fluttershy."

Luna took the name in and sure enough it did she had only seen the girl a couple of times and most of the time she was behind her friends. The element of Kindness. She sighed so a element was unhappy that was her excuse to be involved now should Celestia ask.

Cadance looked between Shining Armor and Luna before stating "Well my only suggestion is to check up on her but its not like you can just walk up and ask about such things." she was not of much help at the moment and she knew it.

Luna nodded and said "Thank you..." she paused but for a moment before leaving it was as if she were saying something else but it was far to quiet for either Cadance or her husband to hear. She had left the room and was now once again wandering the halls now trying to think of a excuse to go Check up on Fluttershy. Why did she care so much to begin with she wondered. Perhaps it was her looking for love and thinking she might have found a person who enjoyed the night only to find a sad person only looking in the night solstice away from prying eyes.

"Lulu!" a voice called from behind her, Luna turned her head to get a view of her sister Celestia coming towared her. "Mind running an errend for me?"

Luna looked at her sister with a eyebrow raised, she knew her sister well enough that she had many motives for doing something and it was never simple. But she responded with "it depends?" she could not actually say no to the leader of all equestria but she could put up a fuss and eventually a gaurd or maid would do it in her stead.

"I require Fluttershy to look after my pet for a few days...."

Luna didn't even let her finish her sentence. "Yes ill do it!" she replied hastily. This was perfect it was exactly what Luna had been looking for.

Taken aback by the hasty response and the no argument. "Let her know ill be there at the end of the week to pay her for her help." She studied her sister there was something clearly going on in her sisters head that even Celestia could not figure out. But she was not going to push it just in case her sister decided to put up a fight after all. "Hes in my room why don't you go get him and then head off immediately?" she asked that one wondering if her sister was going to do it immediately. What shocked her even more was Luna darted off toward her room.
