Well, it it's not much, but still a milestone.
Yay
Well, it it's not much, but still a milestone.
Yay
Those of you who wanted to wait for the whole thing before starting to read it, you can dig in.
And so, the big reveal for Dissonance is here.
How much of an impact it has depends on how much of a conspiracy theorist you've been
There are readers who will need an extra explanation. It will come in the next chapter.
But there are too, I hope, readers who gathered the various clues as they appeared, and will be able to smirk at the screen and say "I knew it."
If you are one of those readers, a bow to you
There will be a delay this week. Hopefully I will manage to publish on Thursday.
400 people have given a try to Dissonance.
Not my best score here, but definitely a milestone to celebrate
There will be a delay this week.
I have been making some last moment adjustments and didn't leave enough time for my final proofreader to look into it.
Due to celebrations, the tuesday chapter may be delayed.
Dissonance has reached 300 readers
Time to celebrate
I know some fics get that much in a day, but mine is a little niche... so...
Thank you all
Due to my story being rather long, with multiple plotlines, I've been told that a recap of all the events would be useful. So here it is; a short summary of all that has happened in chapters 1 to 32.
THE STORY SO FAR:
ARC ONE: LOST OUTSIDE REALITY
Well, my story is half way published.
It has passed 150k words benchmark.
Most importantly, 250 readers It is good to know there are people I can make something interesting for.
What should I do to celebrate?
I'm not entirely happy with how they turned out. In particular, I wish I had come up with some way to make Whisper more distinct. Then again, his background works better with an unremarkable face.
I've been trying to work out stallion faces from the front, and they continue to be a challenge, much more horse-like than mare faces (and of course, a real horse doesn't have front-facing eyes.)
Also, I hate drawing bowler hats.
I didn't make any milestone celebration post at reaching 100K words, but I think this one is more important.
Thank you, everypony.
You are the reason I'm doing this.
More and more OCs appear in the story:
Captain North Star
Captain Glitterdust
Bling (agent Prism?)
Also, a long overdue picture of Enigma
and a small teaser of things to come
I made a picture of Verba.
It wasn't until I put all the details on paper that I realised how weird he used to look.
Between the element of Magic forming the helmet of his armor, the single color eyes resulting from attunement, and the rune-inscribed hide meant to protect him during the final series of magical experiments, he looked more like an art installation than a pony.
Not that he's got less strange since then.
Dr Agate Stone
Dr Bluebonnet
I hope I've managed to make them distinct enough, even in black and white pictures.
And finally, Tourmaline
As promised, I managed to draw a couple more characters:
Agent Pierce
and Lightbringer.
So, I tried to draw Obsidian today.
Does it count as fanart if it's my own story?
Hopefully I manage more characters later.
So, 12 chapters in, over 50k words, and finally past the 100 readers line too.
Updating the story has now become a new regular point of my week, and though my fears about it getting little exposure proved true, every like or comment brings me joy.
In other news:
- Loved Frenemies.
- Didn't hate the GoT ending, though I do have some problems with the final season. I know how hard it is to make all plot lines end up where you want them to.
- Isekai Quartet is awesome.
So, with the 8th chapter ready for reading, Dissonance has overtaken A Day At A Quest Hub as the longest story I've ever published.
Let's hope it can get at least a fraction of its readers.
Meanwhile, I discovered several fics of similar length, that didn't take their authors nearly as much time. Once more it turns out that discipline is one of the most important qualities of a writer. (We're looking at you, George Martin. Or not. Most of us have already found other stuff to read.)
The story is finally ready for reading
I can't believe how long it has taken.
Well, they say you live many lives, because roughly every 7 years you are a different person. I spent my last six years being "the guy that is writing Dissonance".
Now to anxiously wait to see if you like it
