Well. I tried all the OpenOffice recovery tips and nothing worked. I then used a partition recovery program to try to restore the file. It seemed to work, but when I opened the file, the text was a jumble of letters and symbols.

It's corrupted as hell and I don't know if I can fix it.

And I think I just need a break from this fanfic for awhile. Even before this fiasco, it was a struggle to figure out what to write next.

I was 5200 words into Chapter 13 of "So You Escaped From Limbo" and clicked Save, but Open Office wouldn't save. So I stupidly copied only the fifty-something words I had just added and closed out. I tried to reopen and the file is corrupted. Cannot repair. I tried opening it in notepad and wordpad. Nada. And no, I didn't save a copy. I used to save copies of my fanfic chapters on my flash drive, but I fell out of the habit of doing that.

Just FYI, I saved it as an odt file.

At the end of Season 7, I was excited about what the next season would bring with the return of the Pillars of Ancient Equestria. Then I found out that the show was adding yet another group of new characters. Okay, this could still be interesting. The different species have world-building potential. And I like the new-new characters, but they're underdeveloped, at least from what I've seen so far. But I was far more interested in watching the Pillars get reacquainted with their surroundings.
