No, this has nothing whatsoever to do with politics. Seriously.

This does have to do with polls, though.

On Tagging · 8:38am Jun 6th, 2016

The tagging system for Fimfiction continues to confuse me. It makes sense, mostly, though I can’t help but wonder why the tagger considers “Slice of Life” and “Adventure” mutually exclusive, when it is plainly evident that stories can be both in equal measure, particularly if they run on for long enough, and more importantly, when certain stories do have both tags. Which is probably because they weren’t exclusive in the past, and the change in the tag editor was introduced after

The Root of This Tree is a Myth · 10:39am May 26th, 2016

Now that I’ve actually brought this up in Aporia, and got complaints that I’m being incongruous, I need to do something about it, since my readers are probably not quite as familiar with secondary canon as I am.

Random thoughts about canon #7: Where the Sun don’t shine · 7:23pm Mar 20th, 2016

Celestia moves the sun. This much is not only stated ceaselessly throughout the pony lore, but is actually demonstrated empirically: When Celestia is not available, the sun does not move. If nothing else, this is proof positive that anything that can restrain Celestia can at least also stop the sun.

Random thoughts about canon #6: Discord’s Rule · 10:57am Mar 6th, 2016

Discord’s alleged rule of Equestria has been an oft-repeated notion in horse writing, and there is much praise to be said for some of the depictions, just as there are those of them which didn’t turn out so well. However, the subject of today’s musing is…

…When did it happen? What was it like? And, did it even really happen?

As usual, a question more complicated than it appears.

The front page · 12:27am Feb 29th, 2016

Fimfiction's emphasis on the frontpage as the primary means of story propagation is the biggest shortcoming for what is obviously meant to be a social fanfiction site. All that nonsense about the feature box and popular stories columns, which have obvious self-sustaining amplifying effects. This heavily biases visibility towards ultra-long-runners, (which keep slowly rolling until they finally hit it off) comedic oneshots, (which amass followers, which get a new story into the

Random thoughts about canon #4: The Royal Guard · 2:26pm Jan 29th, 2016

When writing this chapter of Aporia, which drags Shining Armor into the narrative and primes a lot of what this esteemed stallion will be doing for the rest of the story, this question came up repeatedly: Just what is the Royal Guard and what does it actually do?

Because I have to decide just what exactly it is that Shining Armor is a captain of, if only to mention it. This is more complicated than it sounds.
