I've made some radical changes to the story, while still keeping the same plot. The rewrite is comparatively minor in scale to a full rewrite. I focused on changing Alex's character to be less aggressive, impulsive and irresponsible. An engineer on any ship shouldn't be that crazy. I still tried to keep her flavour as a distinct character.
