First: Silver said she's a good pony waiting for redemption ages ago, everyone called them nuts, readers included.

One thing I seem to be reminded of every time it's come up, I'm pretty bad at murdering my characters.

Any advice, other than just not killing them?

I don't even know. I have successfully murdered myself, mentally. I don't deal with death as a concept very well. The finality and the irrevocability of it tears at me when I give it more than a cursory glance, and the story suddenly went head-first into a character biting it. Not even in a noble or brave way, but the revenge of a people who lost their own, administered through a method that allowed one to watch them die but do little to halt the process.
