Look at that, another chapter! These people are on fire.

Look at that, two for the price of one!
Hopefully, chapter 8 is coming Sunday.

Amelia is easily the most polarizing figure in my story, and I think it's worth discussing my thoughts, as well as the most common feelings and criticisms about her.
This blog post contains spoilers for the entirety of Through the Well of Pirene
Don't read if you want to avoid spoilers!
Still here? Good!
I'll be posting the second chapter in a couple hours after some touch-up. It's Marcus y'all.
So my forays into the realm of writing original fiction are going quite well. I'm making significant progress on one novel series and good progress on planning several others. I'm looking into short stories, normally my bane, and I'm going to be seriously hunting down publishers and agents (if anyone knows anything about this process or anyone in it, let me know!)
But the one thing that I thought wouldn't happen has happened. I've written a bit more of Pirene.
My current editor has unfortunately found himself loaded with life and other issues, and only has minimal time to volunteer for the audiobook. Is there anyone out there with experience who would like to help out?
Basically, we just need a few things:
1) Checking for bad lines and splicing in revisions
2) Adding audio effects (rare - mostly just for specific characters)
3) General cleanup - minimizing outside noise
Let me know here or in IM. Thanks!
So I've been looking into potential options for a Pirene hard-copy, and we're looking at two potential options:
1) There's a fairly reasonably-priced on-demand service (Bookpatch) I found which does books a bit like this:
The issue with that is that those don't seem to be an especially durable form of book. Serviceable. Total cost would be around 20 bucks per? Less if we get over 50 people (HAH!)
I received a PM by someone (who will remain nameless, unless he wishes) asking me something that I think is very important to the story, as it's something that other people have brought up in the past:
Original Post Here by Farrowe, who's doing the Pirene Audiobook readings.
I don't plan on spoilling for her, and you'd better not either, but I feel it's worthwhile to put Amelia's lack of introspection in these early chapters in context.
I'm just going to post what CiG said verbatim, because it's too perfect:
Cold in Gardez said:
Sweetie Belle is excited to be a goblin. This is easily in the top five things that has ever happened to her.
And then Sweetie burninated the countryside.
Look, it's goblinized Apple Bloom!
Courtesy of Cold in Gardez, an author here on FimFic whose work and opinions I quite highly respect.
Apparently he's just moved to Japan so everyone go wish him good luck.
I've been working on a new story lately. The hectic pace that characterized the final stages of Pirene has sadly abandoned me but I'm getting back into the groove. It's challenging working with a new setting for the first time. The story isn't pony – as I've indicated before, I've got to focus my energy on new things that can get me into a wider audience. Still, I'm 1/4 of the way through a new novel and that's nothing to sneer at.
So those of you who have read Through the Well of Pirene may notice one very large question that went unanswered throughout the fic. In Chapter 10: The Chase, Amelia and Wire come upon the Cutie Mark Crusaders in the Everfree Forest, finding them by following the light of their lanterns in the dead of night as they just about finish disposing of something which they are inordinately embarrassed of – to the point
Because the FimFiction ebook converter is notoriously buggy, I went ahead and created .epub and .mobi editions of Through the Well of Pirene for anyone who wants them:
So in just a few days I'm going to be posting the Epilogue (which will be a two-parter as I suspected it would be) which will really, truly, finally mark the end of the tale, and I've come to thinking about what comes after...
