Do you think the chapters in Hand in Hoof are getting too long? Not long enough?

Would you prefer I keep going at the same length as normal? Should I make the chapters shorter?

I just feel like these things come out so infrequently because I try to make each one long enough to be worth the time. I'd love to hear the thoughts of my readers on this.

That's a funny word, isn't it? In Japanese works, it refers to extraneous content that exists alongside, but is often separate from the main plot. Some may call it filler, bonus content, deleted scenes, or for the really daring, "Elseworlds" stories. Whatever you prefer to call your extra bits, they can be a fun way of enhancing a work, adding new perspective to an ongoing work, or just providing a nice break from something tense or exciting.

Those of you who know me personally know that I like going over my works with others. I tend to be rather slow-going in actual writing because while I have the general idea of how I want a chapter to go—at least, at first—I have so many ideas to work with, and I can never seem to break it up into small little words to properly tell that part of the story. Then, when I finally do release it, it is received with little fanfare.

So I decided to boot up my text editor this morning, fresh from watching the new episode and raring to get some legitimate progress finally done, and then I discover that I just lost over 4000 words for Hand in Hoof.

So now, even more than before, I have to delay Hand in Hoof Chapter 11, and try to rewrite it from scratch.

Such a shame. I actually had a lot going for this one. More of the dream sequence, some interpersonal development, and a decent fight scene.
