Good news everyone, I've been making a lot of progress on the next chapter and A'h should have it finished in about a week or so.
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the publication of Comet The Stallion of Steel.
It's a day late but I thought I'd take a moment to look back on everything I've accomplished since then.

So today you might have noticed or may notice when you enter the site an update showing that I have posted a new chapter. There is no new chapter released, I was editing my current draft and accidentally hit publish instead of edit. I quickly took it down and will be working on this afternoon, but it probably won't be done till after the new year. Sorry about any confusion this might've or might cause.
For those of you waiting in earnest for the next chapter of Comet The Stallion of Steel, I have good news. Progress on the latest scene has been slow but steady and despite the sluggish pace I am getting close to finishing it. The most recent scene has difficult for me to put into words, but today I finally finished it. I think I just need two more scenes and I can post it. Hopefully they won't take as long as the last one, but you know how creativity can be.
So after about four days I finally got to finishing my rewrite of the The Nightmare Rises. I can honestly say that it accomplished a lot less than what I was hoping for given the work I put into it. Some dialog has been changed and a few scenes edited and the scene with the Ghost of Bright Mac has been given a new setting that hopefully will help me get out of the hole I found myself in on the next chapter. On the plus side I did learn something.
I've come to the conclusion that I've written myself into a corner with the latest chapter and have decided to retrace my steps. The most recent chapter published The Nightmare Rises has been taken down pending a rewrite. The changes will be minor and hopefully this will help get the story moving again. Sorry for any inconvenience. 
So it's been a few weeks since I last made a post. I haven't been as active on this story as I have been in the past. What with the new South Park game out and all. On top of that, I've had a little bit of writers block and the weather's been getting colder which means I couldn't get out as much. Anyway I don't have any major announcements as of this post, I just felt like hearing from you guys. So what would be some exciting adventures for Apple Comet to go on? So I just realized that Applejack and the remaining mane 5 were at Twilight's party that night. Little difference I know but an important detail none the less. Anyway to be sure I went back and re-edited the beginning of The Nightmare Rises. The beginning narrative is now longer and includes a scene with Pinkie Pie in it. I know your supposed to show and not tell in situations like this but this was a last minute update and I didn't have time to fit any dialog for her in so it's narrative or
Just a quick update. Instead of Comet following the Mane 6 on their quest to retrieve the Elements of Harmony, I've come up with something a more unique challenge better suited to his abilities because let's face it he's strong enough to face anything in the Everfree Forest without breaking a sweat.
Okay some context. This is the scene I'm currently working on. The Apple Family has retired to bed early so they're rested and ready for the Summer Sun Celebration at dawn. Comet has gone to bed and finds himself in a dream being called to by a mysterious voice.
"Kom-El? Wake up Kom-El."
"Huh...Wha? I slowly opened my eyes and looked around.
"Wake up my little star foal, we have much to discuss."
Hey everypony Stallion of Steel here, Just wanted to thank everyone for following me and reading my story and putting up with my procrastination. Good News, I managed to make considerable progress on the latest chapter and with any luck it could be done as soon as tomorrow.
I've just gone one more scene to set and it will be good to go. So I thought since you all have been so patient with me, that I might offer you a chance to write what happens next.
So you all have been faithfully for over two months now for the next chapter to come out. It has been a wait fraught with rewrites and edits and even complete 180 degree changes to the plot. But I'm happy to tell you that wait will soon be over. In fact if all goes well, I should have ready sometime next week.
Today my story reached over 500 views. I'd like to thank everyone who read, commented, subscribed, favorited and most of all enjoyed it. 
I'd also like to thank my parents, my brother, my friends and everyone who encouraged me to keep going. I wouldn't have gotten this far without their support. Thank you all, I can't promise I'll have a new chapter soon, But I promise I'll keep working at it.
I've decided that sending Comet to Canterlot isn't working out for the story, So I've decided to cancel A Trip to Canterlot and let the story pick up at Friendship is Magic part 1. 
Due to this I have once again taken down The Apple Family Way Part 3 for re-editing, hopefully for the last time. I'm really happy with how it's going so far and I think your gonna like the new ending for the fifth time now? Or is it fourth? Oh well Hopefully I'll have it done tonight or tomorrow.
So after a hectic week of sharing my space with my nephews, I've finally got it all to myself. Now that thats out of the way, I need some help.
So August 13th I posted that the next chapter would be A Trip to Canterlot and that it would be about just that. Comet will meet Celestia and Twilight. However I'm having trouble deciding how to start off. I've got scenes of the Apple Family getting ready, The Train ride to Canterlot and Comet sharing his anxieties about the trip with his family.
So tomorrow will mark a week since I decided to scrap the next chapter and start from scratch. I've thought long and hard and it realization finally came to me. The secret was not to being Princess Celestia to Sweet Apple Acres, But to bring the Apple family to Canterlot.
So My first day back I read thru what I had for the next chapter, A Royal Visit and found I wasn't satisfied with the direction this chapter was going. So I've decided to reedit the ending to the last chapter and start fresh with the next one.
Hopefully I'll make some progress before the month is out.
