We get a lot of threads here from people who are looking for crossovers with a particular thing, who can't find what they want in the folders (if they even look at all) because the folders are, well, massive.

This guide is to teach you how to search for stories using either the search bar at the top of the page.

The Search bar is at the top of the page of the site, next to the notification area. This site uses Google to perform its searches, and the search bar automatically includes "site: fimfiction.net" as a search parameter, eliminating the need to go to Google itself for this.

So, what you need to do is go to the search bar and type in some keywords. Keywords can be tricky, because sometimes you have to get really specific to find what you want. For example, searching for a series by name may not give you story results, because some people can't be bothered to properly label their crossovers.

So, you'll need to use keywords. For example:

If you want to find: Adventure Time crossovers
Try the search keywords: finn, jake, princess bubblegum, lemongrab

If you want to find: Littlest Pet Shop crossovers
Try the search keywords: blythe, biskit, zoe trent, sunil (etc. etc. the pets' names)

If you want to find: Avatar: the Last Airbender or Avatar: the Legend of Korra crossovers
Try the search keywords: airbender, firebender, waterbender, earthbender

To reiterate: If searching for the title of the series doesn't work, try searching for unique, specific terms from the series you want to find a crossover of.

And above all, be patient. It can sometimes take a little time for a Google search to succeed, depending on the obscurity of what you're looking for. If you spend 30 minutes searching and can't find anything, it's safe to assume it doesn't exist.

I guess if you want to search for something while on the mobile site, you can just go fuck off then.

Actually, unless you're specifically talking about searching in bookshelves on the mobile site, the search funtion works just about as well on the mobile site as it does on the full site.

If you are talking about searching bookshelves, it's really is a pain that it doesn't work properly, but there is a workaround: Copy some of the URL of a search result from the Browse tab or some author's story list and paste the copied part of the URL to the end of the bookshelf's URL.

Here's what I mean, using your Favorites bookshelf as the example:

(Bookshelf you want to search)
https://www.fimfiction.net/bookshelf/65878/favourites

(Search result from the Browse stories tab you want to use, the Crossover tag will be the example)
https://www.fimfiction.net/stories?tags%5B%5D=g%3Acrossover&order=latest

You simply copy everything starting from the "?" (though you can ignore the "&order=latest" if you want).

(The part of the URL you need to copy/paste to the bookshelf)
https://www.fimfiction.net/stories?tags%5B%5D=g%3Acrossover&order=latest

(Now you can search bookshelves even from the mobile site!)
