I notice that most stories I start writing for my AU get stuck with an introduction that works mostly to explain the differences from the AU to the canon. On one side, this looks ok because the stories I have sitting here waiting the right time to be posted have a flavored introduction that typically contains the main character's thoughts on the current situation.

But then I thought that I could write a story about the AU. It would be from the point of view of a character charged with investigating something important and it would cover the main differences. It wouldn't be about characters exploring and finding stuff out, but it would be flavored like a report from a character with interest in a story that is central to the AU.

Is this stupid? Do you people know stories like this? Are they entertaining to read?

As long as it's not an exposition dump, it could be interesting.
