Again, it all boils down to the cultural significance of Alicorns compared to the other Three Tribes. Of which there is no info.

If anything, an Alicorn could be seen as a Sinner as much as a Saint; with those not borne into the Royal Family or having any sponsorship by a Princess being touted as a Pretender that must be killed regardless of whether the Alicorn is of selfish or noble intent. It would serve to help flesh out Ponykind as not being inherently seen as the overall "Good Guys" of the setting like the show attempted portraying them as.
