Not necessarily. If we can maintain the story to the Gundalian Invaders point, we can salvage whatever ideas you had. I even have original Bakugans and Abilities in mind. We just need KnightGomora and MaggieHeartLove's permission to use their stories as a baseline.

7671178 That's my point with KnightGomora1994's story Equstria would became a part of the Gundalian wars after the main six had say farewell to their human friends and return home, also given the fact that people keep forget about temporal differentials while it was three years for Dan and the Brawlers for The Mane six it would be only a few months, but the problem with MaggieHeartLove's story isn't Korra and company it's what foes from the past might use the Bakugan to get their way like Zhao
