Robipony, hope you find this very much enjoyable. Also first ever group post. Here we go.

Known Types:
Earthpony
Pegasus
Unicorn
Hippogriff (pony gryphon not seapony)
Sphinx

Traits:
All Tailmouths have sharp teeth tail included. Not likely to interact with other species.

Earthpony:
These Tailmouths are physically the strongest when compared to others. They can outmatch a normal earthpony no problem. They can recover from major injuries in a relatively short amount of time.

Their high strength and recovery comes at a cost, they have an extremely high metabolism requiring them to have a high protein diet consisting of meat. A whole deer is food for one earthpony tailmouth. They have a limited dietary range due to their caloric needs so foods ranging from hay, celery, flowers, etc. are not able to be digested.

The worst thing you could do is welcome them to an 'all you can eat' buffet. Enough said.

Food that the earthpony variant loves is peanut butter. Ever bring a jar near them they will look at you* then the jar then you then the jar then you and suddenly both the jar and the Tailmouth are gone. Bring a jar for the tail too and well... have you ever heard a tail purr?

Beans are also enjoyed but considering two digestive tracts frequent foul smelling flatulence is expected.

Pegasus:
These Tailmouths are crafty and quiet as an owl. They are not strong. The Pegasus variant loves sweets.
Sugar ranging from flour nectar to candy is loved by these sugar fiends. They are also known as big fluffy hummingbirds.

Unicorn:
The last of the 'three tribes' pony types. These Tailmouths are also omnivorous like their earthpony counterparts but have a wider dietary range so they can eat pretty much anything. Their preference of food is fish and due to this they get along well with gryphons.

Unicorn Tailmouths have some unique magic like being able to disguise their tail to walk into towns. Scholars by nature wizards by trade these Tailmouths can duel cast with their horn and tail. In a magic duel don't be surprised when they throw up a shield and then fire a shot through it.

Hippogriff:
Not much is known about these Tailmouths other than what they looked like. It is assumed they died out.**

Sphinx:
The most interesting subtype on our list. These Tailmouths are varying in appearance being a mix of well a sphinx and one of the 'three tribes'. Physically the most intimidating of all these Tailmouths are actually the least likely to be combative with others.

These interesting beings walk from town to town pursuing disease to eradicate focusing on a particular strain***, it is assumed to have something to due with their natural magic but this is unconfirmed. Due to this it is considered good luck to have a Sphinx Tailmouth come through in Zebracan culture.

They are considered friends among the zebras and would welcome them into their home to rest.

Not all species enjoy having these nomads around. It is not unlikely to see one walking into town with fresh and scarred wounds.

Paths:
Tailmouth communities are rather small and far but are more or less the same. Each child with have a path that they pursue ranging from Wrath to Restraint to the well known Plague Doctor. Paths are not tribe specific.

Path of Wrath:
Any who would consider fighting those who had chosen this path would be left with a broken body and no memory of what happened.
The opposite of Restraint these fighters are usually guards or hunters. The hunters usually go after creatures like hydras in groups of twelve or more.

Path of Restraint:
Those who chose this path are known to be calm and have an approachable personality. They are the only one who can stand against those of Wrath without being exhausted.

These Tailmouths use their opponents strength against themselves causing them to be rightly feared by many. Angering one of Restraint is just asking for you to be humiliated by them.

Path of the Plague Doctor:
***Mostly full of Sphinx subtypes the Plague Doctor is one if not the most difficult Path to walk.

The Plague Doctor is like Restraint but without the intention to harm in any fashion. They pursue diseases of all types including those affiliated to crop failures and wildlife.

Insult one and you may find yourself as the opposite gender for awhile especially if the town welcomes them.

As shown from the previous statement Plague Doctors are also alchemists or potion makers. They trade recipes with zebras when they can.

One thing most find revolting is that Plague Doctors have books bound in leather from their deceased family members who also walked this path. This hide is gathered from around the chest covering the heart after they die. These books are referred to as Hearts of Knowledge. Damaging said Heart is considered a grave insult.

Decimation:
The Tailmouths were widespread once. **Distrust by others and being hunted by changelings killing off most if not all of the Hippogriff Tailmouths and crippling the rest of the Tailmouths.

A zebra will never speak of a Tailmouth in the presence of other species unless the other party has met this Tailmouth in order to keep the Tailmouth safe.

*Due to their duel minds Tailmouths in general are able to detect every changeling short of a Queen which resulted in them being hunted down.

Other Info:
Information on other Tailmouths is slim but is currently being investigated

Key:
*Decimation and Earthpony
**Decimation and Hippogriff
***Path of the Plague Doctor and Sphinx
