The Board of Directors for the Lunar Republic is a body consisting of the Head Director, or Director of State, and the Directors of the other eleven Departments. The Directors jointly supervise the Republic; each is in charge of a department dedicated to an important function in their nation. Six of the Directors are also territorial leaders, each in charge of one of the six Domes on the moon's surface, where the Republic's residents live and work.

The Departments are all interlinked with each other, to the point where each one needs to rely on the others for everything to work smoothly. This interdependency was designed on purpose as to foster trust and cooperation during the early ages of the Republic.

The Board has its own meeting room in the Lux Aeternam, the chief government building in the Capital, where the Republic's lawmakers are also based and meet separately from the Board. 

The director of each department has their own title, along with an abbreviation used to uniquely identify them. The twelve members of the Board, with their title, the dome they run (if applicable), their title's identifying abbreviation, their name, their gender, their tribe and their duties are as follows:

* Head Director/Director of State (dome one; ST) - Luna (mare; alicorn)
** The Department of State serves as the Executive Branch of the Lunar Republic, and is responsible for preserving and upholding the supreme law of their nation. When laws are brought to its Director after being approved by the Senate, she is the one who must confirm them to make them into official law. She also serves as the Chairpony of the Board.

* Director of Agriculture (dome four; AR) - Honey Spice (mare; earth pony)
** Responsible for matters relating to farming, forestry, and overseeing the production and distribution of food and water.

* Director of Education (EDU) - Neighsay (stallion; unicorn)
** Responsible for matters relating to schools and educational standards.

* Director of Energy (dome two; EN) - Quick Light (stallion; thestral)
** Responsible for matters relating to energy production and distribution.

* Director of Health (HEA) - Well Wishes (stallion; pegasus)
** Responsible for matters relating to physical and mental health (including their entertainment sector, which helps encourage mental health) and medical services; all the hospitals in the Lunar Republic answer to them.

* Director of Housing (dome three; HOU) - Twilight Velvet (mare; unicorn)
** Responsible for matters relating to urban development and housing. In-universe, she describes her job as "I handle urban development and construction for public and private homes, be they apartment buildings or standard houses." She is also noted as handling disputes between neighbors.

* Director of Recordkeeping (REC) - Steady Notes (mare; unicorn)
** Responsible for matters relating to maintaining the history and records of the Lunar Republic. Most museums in the Republic are connected to them.

* Director of Resources (dome five; RES) - Raven Inkwell (mare; earth pony)
** Responsible for matters relating to overseeing the resources of the Republic and making sure there is enough supply to meet the demands of the Republic.

* Director of Sanitation (SA) - Clear Flow (stallion; earth pony)
** Responsible for matters relating to keeping the Republic clean. They manage garbage collection, recycling collection, street cleaning and similar operations. Criminals are often turned over to them to work on the garbage collection side of things, so as to make productive use of their time while they undergo counseling.

* Director of Science (dome six; SC) - Crystal Lace (mare; thestral)
** Responsible for matters relating to the development and refinement of science and technology. The concept and initial development of the Orion and other interstellar vessels was born here.

* Director of Security (SE) - Onyx Plate (stallion; unicorn)
** Responsible for matters relating to the law enforcement and general defense of the Lunar Republic and its citizens from threats both internal and external, with the individual police departments being a sub-department.

* Director of Transportation - Water Wheel (stallion; earth pony)
** Responsible for matters relating to all fields of transportation both within and outside of the domes. It is also one of the most recently created departments with the Orion project justifying their split from the department of Science.

** A background pony identified on the wiki as "Sir Pony Moore" (I modified it a bit), he has a dark gray mane and tail, and a light cyanish gray coat. Usually seen wearing a tie and dress shirt collar (but no shirt). Never voiced in-series, but shook Twilight's hoof politely at her first Gala.
