I do agree that MatPat isn't intentionally being ableist and offensive. I remember back when he was still a member of Channel Awesome, Blistered Thumbs and Game Heroes, when blip.tv was still a thing. At that time internet reviewers and commentators would shit on nostalgic and pop culture stuff for the lols and generally play characters that were overall toxic. It was a time when everyone was copying the AVGN and Nostalgia Critic. After Blistered Thumbs and Game Heroes imploded, and the mass exodus out of Channel Awesome, the reviewers and commentators who formerly worked for them took the practice of shitting on everything and manufactured toxicity to the wider internet.

MatPat has blended the whole manufactured toxicity and shitting on everything for the lols from the Channel Awesome days and blended it with the pop culture clash of Death Battle to create something definitely its own brand.
