A problem that has haunted human species over the course of time is the idea of following blindly other individuals or groups. Now, it can be argued that this isn't bad if you follow certain idea or person with a critical opinion, by saying the problems with an idea or to tell the individuals where did they go wrong and, if said persons listen, by making sure that they don't take the wrong track.

The problem begins when the leading individual (critic, journalist, politician, economist, group, etc.) stops listening to any type of criticism and starts to think of itself as a greater figure. Or a group of individuals starts to shut down any type of criticism by demonizing skepticism and using its own followers as a mean to attack disagreeing groups/individuals.

But this problem is meaningless if said entities were alone or weren't listened. The true problems erupt when they start to be listened and followed, not by those who can give them the criticism needed to improve but, by those who only complement and throw nice words (inflating their egos) which only increase their power and how much damage they can cause overall, damage that can be more destructive then most can actually realize.

The results of this can be seen across history:

- The Gracchus Brothers in Rome did it through Populism to gain power and they ended up paving the road to the destruction of the Roman Republic.

- Allende did it in Chile and he only made it easy for Pinochet to take over.

- Juan Perón managed to create a road of populist rulers that would destroy the Argentinian Economy for decades.

- José Tadeo Monagas, Cipriano Castro and Hugo Chávez would use their own blind followers to attack any type of political opposition, destroying the thin thread of society in the process.

- Communist Parties (USSR, Fidel Castro, Ortega, Mao Tse Tung, The Kim Dynasty) would use their "Utopian" ideas to gather as many followers as they could and take over their respective countries over the course of time.

This and many more countries that fell victims to the idea that an individual/Ideology is infallible has caused many problems over the course of time and the fact that we, as a human species with thousands of years of history, haven't learned how to detect this is the most baffling thing of all.

Thats because people are easy to blind and bound.
