These are the standard machine guns used by the U.S. military. Which do you think is better?

5565443 They're kind of difficult to compare, as they serve different roles. The M240 is more for use as a defensive LMG, while the M249 is for squad auto use.

A better comparison would be between the M240 and MK43, both are 7.62 NATO. The MK43 is a modified M60, but it can be used as a SAW, unlike the M240.

In short, though, I'd prefer the M249, because you could easily maneuver it as a person weapon, unlike the M240.

5565513 True. I actually didn't think of that when I started this thread. Me personally I would take the 240, just because when you get in a good position it wreak havoc. Plus, the Golf variant has multiple firing speeds.

5565665 The M249 has adjustable fire rate, also. But the M240 was designed to be a machine gun nest weapon, something, between it's caliber and long barrel, it does very well. But personally, I move around a lot.
