Sweden is not the socialist utopia many peg it to be. What else do Americans get wrong about this Scandinavian country?

Bernie Sanders: What’s Wrong With America Looking More Like Scandinavia?
The Huffington Post - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/05/03/bernie-sanders-campaign_n_7199546.html
"’Well, so long as we know what democratic socialism is,’ [Sanders] said. ‘And if we know that in countries, in Scandinavia, like Denmark, Norway, Sweden, they are very democratic countries, obviously. The voter turnout is a lot higher than it is in the United States. In those countries, health care is the right of all people. And in those countries, college education, graduate school is free.’”

Why Are Swedes So Quiet?
Slate - http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/roads/2013/09/sweden_s_lagom_the_single_word_that_sums_up_the_swedish_psyche.html
“The word lagom itself comes from a shortening of the phrase “laget om,” which literally means “around the team” and dates back to the Viking era between the eighth and 11th centuries. Communal horns filled with mjöd (fermented honey wine) would be passed around and everyone had to sip their own share and not a bit more. Sweden today might be known for cutting-edge design and fierce modernism, yet this Viking code of conduct remains ingrained in their mindset.”

The High Price of a Free College Education in Sweden
The Atlantic- http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/05/the-high-price-of-a-free-college-education-in-sweden/276428/
“College in Sweden is free. But rent isn't. And food isn't. Neither is the beer that fuels the relatively infrequent, yet legendary, binges in which some Swedes partake. Costs of living in Sweden are high, especially in cities such as Stockholm, which regularly ranks among the world's most expensive places to live. But again, this stuff isn't free for students in other European countries either. So why do Swedish students end up with more debt? It's pretty simple, actually. In Sweden, young people are expected to pay for things themselves instead of sponging off their parents.”
