Back when I was still finishing up The Royal Ponyville Orchestra, I imagined The Unbearable Lightness as a lighter and softer sidequel that focused on Sweetie's fun adventures growing up without Octavia's tortured angst. That idea didn't last long, and this story somehow became the more 'adult' of the two. Featuring themes of self-destruction, madness, depression, and long-buried secrets, Sweetie's coming-of-age story might just be my favorite in this universe.
