Imagine a pony family of blacksmiths, specializing in blades as farm tools, surgical scalpels, and weapons. One member of their family is a talented, teenage colt or filly whose specialty is crafting blades that many adult blacksmiths are envious of. This teenager is proud of their blacksmithing cutie mark.

One day, that teenager is approached by a down on their luck stranger, an assassin posing as a travelling merchant, who wants him or her to craft two concealed blades hidden in fancy combs to complete an assassination assignment. * The combs are coated in lead to hide the blades from X-ray machines that scans personal belongings and deliveries. Because the colony and lands surrounding it are sometimes attacked by criminal raider gangs and monsters, the teenage pony agrees to take payment in assassin training, and then gets said training while crafting those blades.

However, the day when the blades are complete, the assassin is caught by local police and then taken away to prison hundreds of miles away. The teenager keeps the hidden blades, takes on a persona of a masked vigilante, with an original identity, to keep their colony safe from criminal gangs and monsters.
