I'm a Brit who's never heen to the US, but I've always wanted to visit.

Is it as awesome/terrible as people say it is?

Discuss. :moustache:

4339521 It's a bit of both honestly.

4339529 That's what I thought. Just watched a documentary about the death penalty. I'm pretty sure the American justice system has killed innocent people.

4339531 Oh it has. It most definitely has.

4339559 That's pretty fucked up. :applejackunsure:

4339562 It happens. But to be fair, back then many of the times are because mistaken identity but that don't change the act it happened. And don't act as if Britain's innocent either, similar things have happened there.

4339564 Oh I'm not saying Britain's innocent. :rainbowlaugh: We've done some pretty unforgivable things as well.

Yeah, like a ban of pornography?! What the hell is the UK cumming to?

4339584 They can try to ban it, but people will still watch it regardless. :ajsmug:

4339521 Well, if you take away the tyrannical government, childish and/or corrupt politicians, and the criminals rampaging through our streets its a rather nice place to live.

We banned alcohol a century ago, but damn we never went that far.

4339711 That ban only lasted 13 years before the public got it repealed. (Not that it was very effective in the first place. :rainbowwild:) I agree that the politicians in this country are ridiculous, but that might be a general trait that politicians share. Many of them probably think that they are doing the right thing, but with a country this big, you can't please everyone. I haven't seen rampant crime, (with the exception of the news channels), but I imagine such places exist. (My dad grew up in New York City, and has said that there are such places in the city where you want to make sure your car is locked.) I've lived in the suburbs in south-eastern Virginia (by Norfolk) and am currently living on the edge of the country in south-western Pennsylvania (an hour from the state capital), and I've never felt in danger in either location. I guess it just depends on where you live. :derpyderp2:

How does all this compare to Britain? I mean, you've got BBC, so that's a point for you guys. Though you don't eat much peanut butter, according to my mom. :trixieshiftright: And rumor has it that you all drink a lot of tea, though that's not a bad thing. I haven't ever had the chance to travel much, especially out of the country. That's something I want to do during college in the next four years.
