1 John 1:8 New International Version (NIV)

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Romans 7:24-25 New International Version (NIV)

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[a] a slave to the law of sin.

I am a horrible person. Yes, I see no worth in myself outside of the fact that I am God's creation.
This often confuses people, as it should. Most proclaim their own good works right off. The Bible even says so in Proverbs 20 verse 6: "Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?" (NKJV)

But I will tell you right away I have nothing of worth to offer. I am unable to live up to that which I believe, I am broken and flawed.
So why is it that I and pretty much every Christian is held to this standard of, "Practice what you believe, or else you're a hypocrite?" Yes, Of course we're hypocrites! And we've got room for more. The Church is not a country club for saints! It is and always will be a hospital for wretched sinners, unable to keep the commands they hold to! Christianity has not, is not, nor ever will be based on performance! It is a life filled with constant humbling of one's self before God Almighty, constant mistakes, constant repentance. Praise God that we don't walk in constant depression for it, but in the Joy of His salvation! However, the world can never understand this, try as it might.

I notice often that we're accused of not living up to our own standard. If we're speaking of the Law, and by that I mean the Ten Commandments, well... Nobody is able to keep them! Not to mention that its not our standard, its God's. They were never meant to be kept by men. God gave them for the purpose of revealing our condition of sin, to tell us of His standard of perfection, that without Him, we cannot live up to that. Which is the entire reason for the Gospel. Jesus, fully God and fully man, God incarnate, existing from before creation, (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypostatic_union and https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1.) came to keep the law that we could not.

Every time I lied, He told the truth. Every time I lusted, He did not. Every time I hated, He loved.
2 Corinthians 5 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

But then, He took that sin upon Himself as a propitiation (http://www.theopedia.com/Propitiation) for us, to be beaten beyond recognition, to bleed more than the human body should be capable, to suffer through crucifixion, to rise from the grave three days later..!
So, in the midst of sorrow, suffering, persecution, accusations of hypocrisy, etc. remember the name you bear and remember who died to make it so.
God bless. /)

Very true, I agree. People are always saying how we as Christians are such hypocrites, which is basically true, but that's not what Christianity is about. Christianity is not a religion (some might think that), but a relationship, a friendship with God. Our works, though important, are not what define us as Christians. It's because God loves us that he died to save us from our many sins, not because he figured we deserve it because of what we do.
