THE NIGHTMARISH BETRAYAL ARC: PART 2

So this is a fight centered episode...and I suck when it comes to anything fight scene related. Talking about them, or in this case writing about them, included. Trust me Kersey and BrownDog can attest to my poor fight scene skills, and the fights scenes you guys read only tend to be so good thanks to those two.

So with that in min don't be surprised if I rush through the fight scene part of this episode.

Anyway, with that out of the way lets get this review rolling!

So the episode starts off with Bugze's teleport messing up as usual and he ends up behind the crowd instead of on stage as planned. This doesn't deter Bugze in the slightest as he prepares to revel himself...until he notices Pinkie's smoke machine nearby.

He checks it out and notices there is a 'Super Scary Smoke Mode' and decides to use it in his appearance. Bugze is a prankster at heart after all, and as you'll notice he can never resist pulling a good prank. And scaring almost the entire population of a small town? Perfect enough reason to use the smoke.

Not gonna lie, would do the same thing. Imagine if this is how you introduce yourself to ponykind for the first time, oh man that would be awesome!

So yeah, Bugze turns on the smoke machine and waits for the smoke to build up a bit, He then proceeds to laugh like the Joker and gets the entire crowds intention, as well as scaring them out of their minds.

Cause you know, the ponies of this world scare really easily.

Also, to create the Evil points for scaring a large group with malicious intent, I will be adding 6 for the Mane Six with whatever this 20-sided dice lands on. Not the best solution, but what can you do? Now I'll just roll...

...

Welp, I got 16 so...

Evil: +22 Scaring a large crowd with malicious intent

Oh boy...you guys are not going to like the Karma Counter for this review I can just tell.

Also, to avoid having a overly high amount of points, each arc will have a number of points given at the beginning to summarize the affect of Bugze's actions in general during the arc (good or evil). I'll be making exceptions when Bugze does something that personally effects a group or someone during the event. For example, when he hurts Applejack on accident, and when he first gains the Nightmare Cloak.

I'll try to explain this better if anyone is confused, so please tell me so in the comments below!

So moving on, Bugze and Trixie exchange some hammy dialogue, and Bugze gets annoyed when the crowd calls him his 'aliases' instead of his actual name. Bugze makes a Spaceballs reference using the 'father's brother's nephew's etc' joke, which confuses the crowd to no end, before jumping onto the stage and engaging Trixe in KOMBAT!

...

Okay, so that doesn't actually happen. They start 'fighting' with each other while milking the audience with cheesy one-liners. But you have to admit the fight would have been ten times better with the Mortal Kombat theme playing! Bugze rarely fights someone one-on-one like this, so it would have been a perfect reference.

Actually...have we ever done a Mortal Kombat style battle reference yet? If any of you know can ya tell me in the comments, cause now I'm carious.

Anyway, as they 'fight' (which is more of a actual fight, just their pulling their punches) Bugze tries to tell Trixie that Twilight might be onto them. He believes this due to the fact that, while the rest of the crowd is cheering Trixie on, the Mane Six and Spike are glaring at both of them.

Trixie tells him not to worry about it and the two continue to 'fight.' They exchange a few more blows before Bugze backs off to antagonize Trixie, and she dish's it right back at him. The crowd begins to boo Bugze, but he tells them to shut up via the RCV before launching a stun spell at Trixie.

However, since their not actually fighting, he aimed the blast to Trixie's right. Sadly Applebloom is in the way of the said blast, but Applejack takes the hit for her. Bugze is, of course, distressed by this as he never meant to get the crowd involved, much less almost hit one of his friends and hitting her sister instead.

Also...remember that example I talked about with the last points I gave out? Well....

Evil: +7 Attacking innocent bystanders

Six for the Mane Six and one for Applebloom. Geeze the Evil counter is gonna go through the roof by the end of this arc at this rate!

Anyway, Trixie engages Bugze in a 'fight' once more and berates him for getting hitting the crowd. Bugze is a little absorbed in his guilt so he can't exactly give a proper response, but Trixie snaps him out of it by telling him they should probably wrap things up.

Que a few more bad one-liners and 'close calls' before Bugze pretends to be defeated by slamming his head into the ground after Trixie's fishing magic move. Of course with his luck a rock just so happened to be where he slammed his head down, so he ended up actually knocking himself out.

Cut to a few hours later and we see Bugze in prison in chains. Bugze begins to freak out a bit when Trixie hasn't shown up yet when its already nighttime. But she does eventually show and escorts Bugze out of the jail. However, she is acting pretty strange and suspicious, but the oblivious Bugze doesn't notice sadly.

Trixie leads him to a alley and tells him to wait there as she goes on ahead. After too much time passes Bugze begins to worry, only to be surprised as Trixie shows up leading a bunch of reporters, She claims how she has 'heroically' stopped the Hooded Offender from escaping the jail.

Bugze is too shocked and devastated by Trixie's sudden betrayal to do anything as Trixie hits him with a stun spell, and he lands face first on a rock knocking him out once again.

This is why you should always have a back-up plan people! Never join forces with a stranger without planning for when they might betray you or stuff like this happens.

Also, this is a major turning point for Bugze. Not only is his hatred for traitors born here, but his whole philosophy on life begins to slowly change starting here. From the wide-eyed bug trying to be a hero...to the father fighting for survival against all odds and sides. That change started here folks, with Trixie's betrayal and...well you'll see later today.

The episode ends with Bugze waking up back in the jail house in a Hannibal Lecter like confinement against the wall. Course this doesn't last when a Ursa Minor's foot destroys the jail house and cell he was in. Now free of his bindings Bugze sets his sights on Trixie's stage, with one thought in his mind...revenge!

Oh and he completely ignores the giant monster that's pretty close to him. Talk about being blinded by revenge huh?

This episode was...great! The one-liners, while cheesy as hell, were funny in the context they were used in. The 'fight' between Trixie and Bugze was well written and pretty cool, and Bugze's emotions after he hits Applejack really set his character, The ending had nice build up to the revel of the Ursa Minor, and the plot was moved quiet nicely if I do say so myself.

All in all the second part of the arc was great!

Now, I'm going to go out and hunt me a Ursa Major! Having one of those as a pet is bound to be awesome, so while I'm doing that enjoy the Title Segment!

Favorite Moment:

"I'm surprised you don't remember me. I Am... (*pause for dramatic effect*) your FATHER!...'S brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate!"

Ah Spaceballs, now that is a movie I can watch over and over again and never get bored of it!

Embarrassing Moment:

The One-Liners

Now I love a good one-liner as much as the next guy, but when you have like...I don't know ten to twelve of them in one sequence, and half of them aren't even that good, well it just seems too...excessive to me.

Welp that's it for this review! Reply if you have any questions concerning this chap, for me in general, or to just tell me what you thought of this chapter as well! See ya all later today with the next ep!

The Karma Counter:

Good: 19
Evil: 53

Plot Hole Count: 4

Rating: 7.5/10
