This forum is for an in depth look into the historical background of the Military Archetypes of Terradisia, circa 1130, for the Man of War Universe. Though every topic may not be looked into completely at this moment, additions will be added as time goes on. If you have any questions, or wish to have something brought up, feel free to post a question.

Built for war

As technology and magic grew beyond the confines of today's limitations, so did the dynamics of the modern soldier. These archetypes are the terms used commonly by the Terradisian people when identifying people by skill set. Also, groups of people who were affiliated by these archetypes will be listed below.

Mages

Mages make up the people who are centered around casting spells. Sorcery is at the center of their skillset, as well as counterspelling. This term is used  broadly when identifying people from the colleges of healing, to frontline combatants. In the end, these people are casters at heart.

Associated Groups: Terradisian Army, Spartan Regiment, Liberum Mentium, USF, New World Order

GunSlinger

GunSlingers are people who utilize modern firearms as their weapon of choice. From the Standard Assault Railgun (S.A.R.g.) to the Energy Assault Rifle, and the Qui Metit to the Mark 4, these people use these tools with deadly precision (or not).

Associated Groups: Terradisian Army, Spartan Regiment, Anima & Scintilla, Terradisian Mark Co.

SpellSlinger

Spellslingers are a combination of GunSlingers, Mages, Adepts, and Bestowed. These people utilize all of the tools available to them. They will never delve too far into one group of thought, seeking quantity over quality, of sorts.

Associated groups: Terradisian Army, Spartan Regiment, Rough Diamonds

Bestowed

Bestowed are people who enhance either themselves or their gear beyond physical means. Many of the objects they center around are Focii, rare powerful magical tools that can assist with magical needs. Some Bestowed may appear as Adepts, as they enchant their bodies to perform similarly. Though, the sheer amount of tattoos tend to be a give away.

Associated Groups: Terradisian Army, Spartan Regiment, USOD, Tenebris Ictus

Adpets

Adpets are people who use their magical prowess completely inwardly. The magic flows through their body and gives them unnatural human abilities. There is no outward appearance of this form of magic at the common level.

Associated Groups: Spartan Regiment, Backstreet Unbrea, USOD, USF

Riggers

Riggers are people who utilize drones. Though these people are rarely seen out and about, their impact is still largely felt. Though technically illegal, many riggers take the standard models and customize them with their own schools of thought.

Associated Groups: Spartan Regiment, Power Junkies, USF,

Deckers

Deckers are people who utilize the internet heavily. They seek the long thought to be lost secrets of the past. The internet is unlike today's WWW; in that it is a place that sort of became its own plane. From there, they would delve deep into the hidden secrets of Terradisia. Combatants for this group rose to fight similar groups and is the only group that fought mainly itself.

Associated Groups: Power Junkies, Mundane Made Matrix, USF, USOD

Bellum Machina

Bellum Machina are people who specialize in using suits of power armor and war vehicles. Also referred to as walking tanks, heavies, and Mortem Officinas. These people worked closely with Deckers, Riggers, Bestowed, and Gunslingers. They were some of the most effective fighters, but were also the least prominent on the battlefield.

Associated Groups: Spartan Regiment, Teradisian Army, Power Junkies, USF, USOD, Tenebris Ictus, Anima Scintilla, Terradisian Mark Co.

Ekdromoi

Ekdromoi (Edkromos singular) were people who utilized melee weapons as their weapon of choice. From short swords to war hammers, and from stun gloves to monofilament whips; these people brought the fight right to the enemy. Ekdromoi tended to work closely with Bestowed and were often Adepts as well (though that wasn’t their focus, hence the distinction).

Associated Groups: Spartan Regiment, Old World Order, Tenebris Ictus, Backstreet Unbrea

More groups will be added at a later time. This is the first of two planned, though there may be more to come.

SpellSlinger all the way!
