- What is canon in the ‘When they were Young’ (youngverse) universe?

The main things that are canon are the names and personalities of the following characters.

-King Terra and Queen Aeterna are the parents to Celestia and Luna.

-‘Mister Chives’ is the personal guard to Luna and is never addressed by his real name.

-Nanny Blackberry is the nanny to Luna and Celestia.

-Entropy and Eris are the parents to Discord.(due to their chaotic nature, personalities can differ from story to story).

-Dorian is the human-shaped action figure toy of Discord who carries him nearly everywhere and is his best (imaginary) friend.

-Metamorphosis and Alteratia are the parents to Chrysalis.

-‘Obsidian’ is the (retired) commander often assigned to babysit and look after Chrysalis when her parents are not able to.

-King Krustallos and Queen Amemond are the parents to Sombra.

-For the time being, the parents of Applejack, Big Mac and Applebloom is undecided (will make it a group comp). They are indeed alive if you write a story about the Apple family.

-For other ponies (mainly background) such as Caramel or Berry Punch, you can decide on their names regardless of other stories.

-Personalities and appearances of the canon characters.

-Terra - Terra is a kind hearted and slightly stricter of the two parents. But this doesn’t stop him from enjoying time with his two daughters and is more than happy to play games with them, much like his wife. Terra has white fur and a glowing orange mane and tail, like the sun. His cutie mark is a sun with angel wings.

-Aeterna - Aeterna is soft spoken and very kind to her daughters, out of her and Terra she is the more playful of the two and spends the most time with the daughters. Aeterna has dark blue fur with and a silver glowing mane and tail, like the stars in the night sky. Her cutie mark is a crescent moon with a smaller, full moon in the dup.

-Mister Chives - A bat pony assigned to be Luna’s personal guard. He never speaks much and instead lets the young Princess do as she pleases. Even though it may not look it, he is more than happy to join in with her when she and her sister play games. He has a goatee and moustache and instead of yellow reptilian eyes he has ice blue reptilian eyes. Upon the arrival of their new nanny, Blackberry, Mister Chives is shown to hint towards romantic interests in the mare and vice versa. His real name is <REDACTED>.

-Nanny Blackberry - A black coat and grey maned unicorn, she is the nanny to both Luna and Celestia. She is very strict when it comes to following rules but is extremely kind and loves the two fillies to bits and is never shy away from playing games with them. She likes to reward good behavior and punish bad (not in the extreme sense). But even as a nanny, she is not above using tricks to hammer home a message of important to whomever she is trying to give it to, weather it's the King or Queen to the sibligns. She also seems to hint towards showing a romantic interest in Luna's guard, Mister Chives.

-Entropy - Unlike his wife, Entropy is rather strict with his parenting. This, however, doesn’t mean he is unable to appreciate a good laugh now and again as well as some mischief. He has a beard and moustache combination as well as bird wings rather than a bats.

-Eris - Eris is the opposite of her husband, she is very much a prankster and often happily plays games with her son. This doesn’t mean that she doesn't know when to be strict with him, though. Eris has medium length white hair and instead of two horns on her head she instead has a unicorns horn on her forehead, from which she uses her magic.

-Dorian - Dorian is the action figure toy that Discord carries around with him nearly everywhere he goes. He's a human with a formal, black, billowing coat, formal white shirt and formal black vest. a white cravat that dangles elegantly from his neck, formal top hat and cane (accessories that can come off) and long black trousers and black shoes. His eyes are also black save for two silver dots where his pupils are. Unbeknownst to anyone else Discord is able to talk to Dorian who replies to Discord telepathically and himself is able to use chaotic magic (everyone just sees Discord talking to a doll and dshurgs it off as him playing), Dorian is able to move only when it is just him and Discord, otherwise he remains as a doll. Despite this, he can still talk to Discord telepathically.Though apparently sporting the age of a twenty five year old male, Dorian is prone to acts of random chaotic turns much like Discord (however, this can sometimes differ from story to story like Discord's parents). The two share a Calvin and Hobbes style bond.

-Metamorphosis - Out of the two parents, he has less responsibilities than the Queen, due to the female’s having the most power. This gives him more time to play with his daughter as well as rule alongside his wife. Unlike her, he is very easily swayed by his daughters dreaded ‘puppy-dog eyes’ routine. He tends to always get into trouble with his wife whenever he and Chrysalis get up to some form of antics. Metamorphosis has a dark green goatee and like with his wife, has reptilian eyes.

-Alteratia - A strict mother and Queen who isn’t afraid to let people know her opinions. Unlike her husband who is prone to spurs of silliness (usually when Chrysalis is involved) Alteratia rarely shows her silly side. But she does know how how to be a good mother to Chrysalis and will often play with her daughter whenever she can. She has the same appearance as Chrysalis does in the shows canon save for her eyes being silver.

-Obsidian - A grumpy, ex-commander of the changeling army. He has long been a friend to the royal family since his days serving in the military and acts as a grandfather (albeit a grumpy one) to Chrysalis, who is very fond of the changeling (when he isn’t being a grumpy-face). He sometimes acts uninterested or annoyed but is very protective of the young Princess. He is blind in his right eye (old war wound) and doesn't like changelings staring at it.

-Krustallos - A very strict stallion who believes appearance is important above all else. Despite this, he is very tolerant of other ponies problems and will go out of his way sometimes to make sure his kingdom and subjects are safe and happy. He's loved by the Crystal ponies and adored by his wife and son. Krustallos has a grey coat, white mane and tail with a white goatee. His cutie mark is a crystal sword.

-Amemond - A very quiet and soft spoken unicorn. She tends to take care of internal affairs whilst her husband deals with foreign and military issues. She is loved by her subjects for her kindness and dedication to them, she adores her son and pampers him to no end, sometimes embarrassing him in front of his friends. She has a light purple coat with dark purple mane and tail, her cutie mark is of a crystsal feather.

-If someone writes a story where Discord plays with young Chrysalis, but in another story, Chrysalis is slighlty older than Discord. What’s canon and what’s not?

-Settings for each story do not have to follow other stories, the only thing that has to be followed is names and personalities.

-For example - Nightmare Night takes place after Luna is banished to the moon, this doesn't mean however that someone like Chrysalis can take part in it, and in another story, be the same age as filly Luna and Celestia.

-You can even have a story where all the villains and heroes go on a large playdate.

- Posting a story.

-When posting a story to the group, please only post it into two folders only.

-Please post them into the correct folders. For example, if the story is about Twilight and Shining Armour then post it into their respective folders and please only post into the folder of the main character(s) in your story.

-Please post all stories into the relevant folder, meaning, if the story is about Twilight and Shining Armor mainly then put it into their respective folders.

-No foalcon, period.

-No mature stories that either are grimdark, border on grimdark or have a sad ending (e.g. a character dies and there is no closure) Stories that have a life lesson about death or other problems about life are fine though (as children do have to learn sometimes the world is a cruel mistress). The whole point of the Youngverse is to have the stories be feelsy and warming to the reader.

-Regarding foals that are canon such as the CMC, stories about them are allowed only if it is about them when they were slightly younger, such as a first day of school story or childhood antics with the family.

-When posting the story for submission, please add ‘When they were Young’ to the title or in the description (or both) so others can know the setting for it. Please also add a link to the group in the description.

-Whilst the group is mainly for the canon characters, in regards to posting stories about an OC character when they were young, they are allowed but please put them into the OC folder only.

-Regarding AU stories (this covers rule 63) please add them into the Alternative Universe folder. Also please note, if you do a rule 63 story, the names of all the parents are swapped. Obsidian becomes Crystal and Mister Chives becomes Miss Basil.

- Forums

-This really goes without saying, respect one another.

-There will be a three strike rule implemented if evidence is shown (such as threads containing rude and disrespectful comments, private message screenshots etc)

-First strike - One day ban.
-Second strike - Week ban.
-Third strike - Permanent ban from the group. (If you feel as if you have been banned unfairly, you can appeal to an admin via a private message.)

-Admins reserve the right to ban people, appeals can be made to them as previously stated.

-Don’t spam pointless threads. Discussions, questions and games (more on that later) are fine.
