Though an amazing movie and one of the primary sources I point to when it comes to the early formative works in the cyberpunk genre, Gibson really put together with Neuromancer what is now known as the main tropes of the cyberpunk genre, the fusing of man and machinery, the mental diving into cyberspace, corporations not just influencing law but writing them, high tech-low lives, AI shown to be a threat and living in cyberspace, globalism and capitalism completely run amok.
