Why would box office success matter, anyway?

EDIT: OH, WAY TO DESTROY ONE OF THE PRIME ELEMENTS THAT MADE PSYCHO WORK.

EDIT 2: ...AND CITIZEN KANE.

3162930 And from the words of WatchMojo themselves:

These movies are selected based on their iconic status, critical acclaim, box-office success, and watchability; and not what your film studies professor or most artsy movie critics would pick.

So, you mean the ones that actually know more than three things about film, their opinions don't matter?

3162916 for a while, i didn't know what the problem was. I was like "eh, this is ok I guess." right up untill they said that "the Dark Knight" was the sixth greatest movie ever. is "the Dark Knight" great? yes.
Did it single handedly save (and simultaneously doom) the comic book movie? yes. is it the sixth greatest movie ever made?

hell no

and neither is "the empire stirkes back", or "pulp fiction" inventiveness and the ability to please a crowd does not a great movie make. Put "Casablanca" on the list, and then one of a myrad of actual great movies, and then maybe figgen watchmojo can talk.

by the way, "The Worlds End" was my favorite film of 2013
