For some reason I found myself wondering if ponies in Ponyville use their fountains to get water. Like how in Rome, people could go up to a fountain and just grab water out of it to drink or bathe in.

This is a puny detail, but for some reason it's bugging me And I figure, since we're all here, that someone might be able to justify if ponies drinking from the fountains would fit in with something (somewhat) canon or not.

And this is the first thread, so that's cool!

Sure you could justify it, but since they have running water in their homes, and the water in all of the fountains I remember (sum total being the picture above) is still, not flowing, I don't think it's very viable. Ponies, though, do seem to be quite liberal (fancanon especially) so they very well may drink from them on occasion, but I don't think they'd use them as regular water sources.
