does anyone know were the sevres are hosted and if fimfiction is save

I don't think so, as it's text-based. humans are fickle things, though.

1718152 Fimfiction should be listed as a writing/reading site so it should not be effected one would think. But it comes down to what the people who are enforcing the ban consider porn. I personally would think that anything that is text based (and not meant to look like a picture) would fall under the category of erotic fiction instead of porn.

1718152 Ok so I looked around quick and found a post about it.

An example of an account settings page from the site reads:

“Parental controls”
Do you want to block
☑ pornography
☑ violent material
☑ extremist and terrorist related content
☑ anorexia and eating disorder websites
☑ suicide related websites
☑ alcohol
☑ smoking
☑ web forums
☑ esoteric material
☑ web blocking circumvention tools

So yes it could block out fimfiction, but you can turn these options off. At the end of the day, this seems like a good idea but it's so wrong. Something to remember is knowledge is power, and when you prevent people from getting to that knowledge, you are taking the power from them.

So Cameron’s plan not only forces individuals to divulge to the government and each other what their interests are, but it seriously limits the information people will be exposed in exploring the world’s information. That should be both a civil rights violation and just a general shame.

These quotes were pulled from http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/202876/uks-porn-ban-censors-way-more-than-just-porn/:twilightsheepish:

1718565 no, you see im in canada so i would be affected, what i was trying to find out is if knight the owner of the site was in the UK

1718754 What it's really about is tracking people and finding out what they're doing. If they put that into place there are options to turn off the filters, but government would see that change you made to your settings. Then depending on what options you changed they would put you on a watch list.

Like I said before, it shouldn't effect the site itself. If it goes into effect there might be less site traffic due to fear, but I doubt it. If something like that threatens the site I'm sure they would transfer the site to a new server somewhere unaffected by this.

1718966 well im just glad this is only in the UK. what the states, UK and Canada really need is a nice revolution

1718966 and sorry i meant to say i wouldn't be affected

1719096 No worries, I've read more then my share of fanfics, and done enough editing to be able to pick out things like that.
