Why aren't we allowed to spoiler out trope titles on trope pages? Wouldn't it be easier to just spoiler out trope titles then trying to find a way around that rule?

Wouldn't it be easier to just...

This part right here? That's your problem. It's not supposed to be easy for you. It's supposed to be readable and informative for the audience. Spoiler tagging trope titles fails both of those purposes big time.

Put yourself in the reader's position. If you come to a big block of black with no hint as to what it's about, what are your options? 1) You can ignore it, thus undercutting the entire point of an informative post. Or 2) you can go ahead and mouse over the spoiled text, thus undercutting the point of the spoiler tag.

Whereas, if the reader can see that the spoilered entry is a death trope, now they know someone important dies but they still don't know who. At that point they can make an informed decision as to whether to read the spoiler or not. The goal of TVTropes is to inform people. It is not, and cannot be, to protect the hypothetical reader who isn't familiar with the work—yet chooses to come read about it anyway—from being spoiled.
