Swans (and maybe even Flipper) is actually the only band I've experienced so far where "noise" was used in a coherent enough fashion to not sound chaotic and meaningless, while at the same time keeping it well outside "conventional" music, thus creating something impossibly brutal.
This sounds disturbing. Like Steve Reich kind of disturbing. I don't know man. I like it, and the album Holy Money is pretty good so far. That extra ambient feel certainly borders on the claustrophobia and paranoia style.
Every time I hear it I start laughing (in that "I am going insane" way) and think: "How the hell does one get to the point that they create music like this?"
2243860 Mudvayne! I love their music, but their songs are so dark. If you want to listen to some of their songs to see what I mean, here's a few:
Happy? Scream With Me Never Enough Have it Your Way IMN Dead Inside
If you have heard any of these songs, or listen to them, please let me know what you think. Personally, I think Scream With Me, IMN, and Dead Inside are the most depressing.
Come on, dude! Did you check my channel. I love Metallica, and I always will. I know all their albums and I love all of them equally. Sounds cliche, eh?
Well what you referring too, I thought you meant. Either Load, Black Album or ...And Justice For All. Though the last one might be pushing it out of bounds, because the only sad songs are One and To Live Is To Die.
And I thought you meant Load because of their lyrical content. Its more somber than the likes of Master Of Puppets.
Mine Is Alice In Chains.
There isn't a band that made me real low than this band.
Some songs for example:
Just look at the song titles! They sound depressing, at least too me.
Dirt
Over Now
Love, Hate, Love
Down In A Hole
Brush Away
Sludge Factory
Am I inside?
Confusion
Would?
Hate To Feel

Just gonna leave these here...
2243970
I'll check them out.
2243982
Don't let me stop you...

Korn.
Metallica.
Radiohead.
The Beatles.
Etc.

I'm not all into noise rock/drone/industrial/no wave and experimental but this one blew up in me.
2244348
Glad you enjoyed it!

2244457 Hawethorne Heights

Try Greed. That third song...
Every time I hear it I start laughing (in that "I am going insane" way) and think: "How the hell does one get to the point that they create music like this?"

How is the Beatles depressing?

You'd be surprised how many Beatles songs are depressing.
Yesterday, Two of Us, Eleanor Rigby..
Staind. I love them, but they're pretty damn depressing
2246578
Okay, okay. Fair.
But why Metallica?!
2244508
What's that? Or who's that?
2246850
They're a rock band from the mid 2000's. They're songs are very sad.
2246848
Fade to Black, One, To Live is to Die, Until it Sleeps..
Jk, but yeah

And you didn't even mention The Unnamed Feeling
2246623
What album hurts the most?
2244538
Did you hear Cop and The Burning World? They are great albums.
2246916
Metallica as "depressing"? Come on...
I mean, they do have a few sad songs, but you would need to be pretty freaking inexperienced in music to be mentioning them...
2247535
Check out my user page, dude. It might not be very obvious at first, but you may notice that I'm kind of a fan of theirs...
Also, The Burning World is pretty much their softest material... with the exception of "God Damn the Sun", maybe...
2248583
It's really because I don't listen to a lot of depressing artists.
I assure you, I'm not inexperienced in music..
2248765
No harm done...
2247524 It's not that it hurts, it's just I guess the lyrical content
2246578 The only song by them I can emote to is "The Long and Winding Road."

I'll admit, once you know the story. It is quite sad, really. Not going to lie. Not going to lie, at all.
