 : I find this too big to fit in the Non-Canon Units thread alone. I believe seeing for yourself will be much easier to comprehend than reading what I might type in here...

Sunray Cannons - Magnifiers
The Sunray Cannons are renowned for the destructive effects their linear projectiles have on virtually anything they hit. A Magnifier increases this effect even further. It is a specially-crafted len that is placed on top of the already present powerful focusing lens. The Magnifier is designed to work with a very skilled gunner for maximum efficiency. A better focuser means more sunlight to draw in, which means more power to the sunlight beam.

Sunray Cannons - Swivel Platforms
One weakness a Sunray Cannon has is its inability to rotate, the severe limitation to its angle of firing. To realign its aim horizontally, its crew must move its entire body. Although installing a Swivel Platform makes the cannon even slower due to extra encumbrance and “dodgy”in actual relocation, it is a bargain for both gunners and generals alike to be able to realign the aim whilst keeping the cannon's body entrenched in its predetermined tactical position.

Sunray Cannons - Scatter Barrels
An experimental equipment to be attached in front of the cannon's barrel, the Scatter Barrel's design consists of multiple lens dotted all over its dome shaped body. When the cannon is fired, the sunlight will pass through these focusing lens, multiplying the traditional single projectile. It was designed to combat aerial threats, specifically of the ever-nimble Stormwing’s. Though its final power and range lacking due to the initial projectile being spread out, it still results in horrifying effects virtually indifferent upon organic flesh.

:twilightsheepish: : It is related to the Units, but not actual units themselves, you see..?

Is it possible for a Sunray Canon to have all three of them at once, or can one pick only one or two of the upgrades, as the other(s) is/are mutually exclusive?

4268172 nice one. but this beeing complementary to warhammer 40k eldars makes it look a little bit more like a ripoff. Amyby you should get out of limitation of be inspired onlt by mlp and warhammer 40k... :twilightsheepish:

:trollestia: : For those three, I'd say it's possible, 4268205. There's always room for more. I only managed to come up with these three based on the functions of the Sunray Cannon itself...

:twilightsheepish: : Now that there are just plain coincidence, 4268210. I honestly have no idea that Eldars are like that, and I have no idea how too. As I've said, I looked on the functions and thought off some type of modifications possible...

:scootangel: : Eldars aside, I was mainly inspired by the descriptions in Research Upgrades of Mass Effect 2. Have been digging into the series: those little descriptions that were most likely ignored can give a really big picture..!

4268478 I am not entirely convinced but I belive you. For now.

General - Essence Brews
Rumored to be made in the depths of either the Everfree or the Cult, these potions are exclusive to the black markets at exceedingly high prices. Though the origin of the formula and their production are shrouded in the veils of enigma, ask and many would agree that the essences themselves were once alive.

The theory of these brews being made from their respective "essence" have associated them more to the Cult, while others prefer a more realistic hypothesis of being from the experts, if not the sole masters, of alchemical arts themselves within the Everfree Forests, the Wild Roses.

There are only three known formulas: Earth, Unicorn, and Pegasus, all of which temporary in their effects. Consuming a respective race's essence will still affect the consumer's racial affinity, though it can be hard to notice. For example, a Unicorn Pony drinking a Unicorn's Essence will make his magic much more potent for a limited time.

In case that a non-unicorn drinks a Unicorns’ Essence, the magic he would gain would depend on his race. If he's an Earth Pony, his magic would from his hooves. If he's a Pegasus Pony, then his output will be his wings. Both still unmatched by the natural Unicorns.

Unlike Seraphs, drinking a Pegasi Essence will not grant wings to fly, but he will glide along the air and manipulate weather physically akin to Pegasi as he sees fit. An Earth Pony will use his hooves, while a Unicorn Pony will use manipulate with his magic.

There are no visible racial difference when drinking an Earth Essence. Effects that it grants are the affinity to the soil of the earth, but most ponies are more interested in another of its effects, strength. There is so much one can do with so much strength.

Combat Clouds :unsuresweetie:#PleaseHelpComeUpWithBetterName
Generally there are two types of clouds in that define in architecture: the unrefined materials that we see afloat daily in the sky, and the refined ones from the manufacturing plant. Combat Clouds are made with specially produced material, a variation to the refined ones.

Although Flying Cities are mobile, they are not renowned for their swiftness due to the extra densities from the refining process that makes the clouds that are used to construct the cities themselves solid. The materials that are used on Combat Clouds however, are different. A special concoction of various types of clouds, scientists of Canterlot may even say that it is a scientific breakthrough on Nebulogy, a subject they understand too little to achieve anything useful.

Though still in its experimental stage, the material shows promising results. It is virtually as light as the common raw clouds, and as hard as the mass produced refines. This makes it possible to employ mobile fortifications, with adequate mobility in their resume; a concept that is more than compatible with Stormwing's tactics.

:applejackunsure: : Moved this old one here, since they are items rather than an actual unit...

Hover Discs
Another innovation from the innovative scientists of Moon and Star these agile platforms allow its land-bound users to engage directly in aerial combat, though they better hold on to their platforms in dogfights. Controlled solely by magic, advanced maneuvers are almost impossible due to the amount of concentration needed. Due to its complexity in both creation and usage, it is unsurprising that it holds great value in the black markets.

Storm Disc, Katekyō Hitman Reborn!
...I swear there are others that better illustrate the idea, but this is the only one that came to mind...

Bucking Soles
A pair of Bucking Soles is enough for a common Earth Pony mare to dislocate a joint, given enough strength put in. A major drawback of wearing these are the weight issues. Having something pulling down the hind legs aren't the best way to sprint, and survival depends on speed, as much as any abilities necessary according to the situation. There exist those who use two pairs of these heavy objects, either doubling the ones on their hind legs or the other on their forelegs.

Tail Blades
Anypony can manually control their tails should they practice. Ponies that use Tail Blades however, train with theirs. There’s a line of willful difference between practicing and training. It is basically a blade attached to the tail, with the users of the weapon control it with their own tails obviously. It is uncommon for them to be very acrobatic to the level that of the Cult, unless they are acrobatic cultists themselves. There are witnesses of those wielding multiple Tail Blades.

Tail Mauls
A derivation of the Tail Blades, ponies wielding these tend to be strong Earth Ponies, considering the amount of strength needed to even lift the thing using tails. It is a rare sight to see either Unicorns or Pegasi wielding such heavy weaponry. A standard issue to all Ponies-at-Arms, a single direct hit would crush through armor to the bones within.

Champron Helm
One of the Unicorns' ancient traditions is horn dueling. In practicality, the skill itself is deadly as its weapon is right above the eyes. It’s hard to miss something directly upon your sight, unless you’re blind. The practice gradually became unpopular by the time the Unicorns discovered how to use their magic in combat, which came quickly right after they figured out how to use their horns to cast spells. Prior to that, they invented the Champron, an ingenious equipment of the time that attaches magical blades to the enduring horn.

Not long after the founding of the Engineer Guild, the engineers converted the intricate designs of the Champron into a simple helmet with a blade branching out from the top. One of the noteworthy changes they took is that they moved the blade's position to the nozzle instead of the forehead, making positioning the blade much simpler.

Tail Grapples
A signature equipment of the Engineer Guild, they are as deadly as a weapon as they are a necessity to them. It uses the same concept of any other tail-related equipment. Though this particular equipment isn't just a simple attachment to the tail. The hair at the core of the tail are used to control the grapple itself, thus it is not a mere simple trickiness to use, and making it unsurprising to see engineers using their tails proficiently alike the acrobats of the Cult.

Spears
A simple design that consists of a simple stick with a blade at one end. Pegasi can easily wield them due to much of the space they have while in midair. Controlling a stick with hooves is very tricky to adapt with, but once one has mastered it, they would be capable of including their hind legs into their motion. Thrusting with the blade is a common tactic, but the value of these weapons lies in its sweeping capabilities that make them an obvious choice in Pegasi combat.

:ajsmug: : I believe anypony can use these given enough practice...

:applejackunsure: : Hmm, what if the tails don't accommodate..?

Tail Extensions
Virtually indistinguishable in the past, technological advancements have made this aspect untrue. Tail Extensions are present in Equestrian society for decades, and the passing decade saw the most development. Not as cheap as getting a typical manecut, these tails are grown. They give ponies whose tails were unwillingly cut off or were just simply short, the convenience of using tails in everyday life. There is always an adequate amount within with Tail Extensions.

:fluttershyouch: : There..!

:applejackunsure: : Don't mind me, just moving a couple of things...

Champrons
The Champron is a delicate device whose designs evolved through the millennia. The only design modern Equestrians have ever found were archaic, thus leaving false impressions on this elegant weapon. Though at first only a mere blade attachment to the horn, as time progresses, the device is now capable of doing much more.

It tunes to the user's magical capabilities through the horn to form blades in various shapes, and possibly with surprising elements, depending on the proficiency of its user. This grants versatility in combat with the only drawback of being severely delicate. Because of that, users are usually seen with another weapon equipped in case the Champron suffered any possible damages.

:trixieshiftright: : Who's to say that Energy Weapons are Sci-Fi only..?

Hail Crossbows
A variation of the iconic crossbows used by the Griffin Kingdoms. With a magazine that can contain up to 30 bolts, no longer does it need to be reloaded every time a shot is fired. Upon reloading; when the large lever on top is pushed forward, a new bolt will slide in, and at the same time, the string is re-tensioned. When the lever is pulled back, the already emplaced bolt releases.

A deadly weapon made simple not without consequence. Its firepower is drastically reduced, defeating its purpose of being a high power, long range weapon, effective in medium range at most.

Wing Blades
Though there are many variations in its design, any Wing Blade, no matter created by whom, holds one simple fact true: A strong pair of wings is needed to wield it. Though Pegasi rely on their passive magic, not the strength of their wings, to fly; the strength by its own is essential to the wings' movements that control the maneuver of the flight. This same strength is needed to support the weight of the blades and its frame, more so swinging them effectively. One of the most common designs is the main frame attached along the wings, blades running along facing outwards.

Feather Blades
A traditional Feather Blade is an archaic design of the Wing Blade wielded by the strongest warriors of the Old Hegemony. It is best to note that their wings were larger compared to their descendants. In present times, it is widely accepted that for any Pegasi to have their wings filled with iron more than their feathers will strip away his ability to fly.

When one speaks of “Feather Blade”, the learned would visualize the ancient weapon. But times have changed, “Feather Blade” now refers to an exotic weapon highly sought after in the black markets, and only found in the black markets. As enigmatic as their origins, no one is ever known to have successfully studied its technical functions. Both the Canterlot Arcanists and Engineer Guild placed a price for a sample of the weapon, but even their resources combined won't be enough when put up against their oppositions’ auction prices.

The device tampers into the inborn magic of the Pegasi. A larger frame replaced the common blade design. The magic drained are converted into coatings for feathers individually, giving each of them an edge like that of a blade, effectively converting entire wings into targes.

Defensively, the wings can deflect any hit with no more power than a Juggernaut's charge. Offensively, the collection of blades can be wielded with ease due to the virtually weightless nature of the magical coating. One should note that, once activated, the weapon cannot be sheathed. One iconic effect of this weapon is that the coating glows, glows brightly like stars in the night sky. Thus, if one wants to find an extremely rare user of a Feather Blade, any self-proclaimed experts would suggest to look under of any fully cloaked Pegasus, especially the ones glowing, for a start.

Arqueteers - Internal Ignition
The traditional matchlock of the arquebus has one fatal flaw other than usage difficulty amidst humid rain. The breech hole that is left open upon firing lets some of the propelling force out that could have gone to propelling the round. The solution to this is to fill up that breech, but how would the powder be ignited? With manipulation of magic to some degree, the powder in the barrel can be lit from within without relying on physical sources for ignition. With enough experience, one can burn all the powder instantaneously for maximum propelling power...

Arqueteers - Smokeless Powder

Completely overhauled by the Engineer Guild, this prototype system gives the headbutter an overall better mobility at the cost of constant (and quite expensive) maintenance. Wheels now drive through a series of steel tracks that form into a single strip each side. They move the tracks which in turn, move the vehicle. When moving in this manner, rough terrains become as much a hindrance as flat plains would. And as a bonus, it turns pretty easily too compared to the former wheels; by having one side pushing forward and the other pushing backward, or vice versa.
