With episodes back to airing on a weekly basis we got the first episode with a lot of hype surronding it. And surprisingly this episode turned out to defy many of the expectations fans had going into it.

And now for my thoughts: Another M. A. Larson masterpiece and arguably among the best episodes of Season 1. For once the CMC are actually enjoyable, if only because the focus this time isn't on them obessing over their cutie marks. And all of the backstories for the mane six are enjoyable and fill us with the warm and fuzzies. But I'm pretty sure Applejack's and Pinkie Pie's stories were the most shocking. Especailly considering how long it took us to find out Pinkie Pie was telling the truth. We even got to see the first onscreen parents, albeit in flashbacks.
