1) Ponyfic Writing Month (PoWriMo?)
Concept:
As reviewers, it only helps us to know what it's like to experience the struggles that the writer does, and for those of us who do write, it's good to have a challenge that pushes us to finish something in a timely fashion. Most other challenges push you to complete a novel-length work, though, which is daunting and time consuming (especially for those of us in school or who work for a living), so we're paring the goals down a bit in favor of more people being able to potentially participate.

Guidelines:
- 30 days (or 31 if it's a long month, depends when we get this launched...)
- Stories are unrestricted: open form, any genre (there will be a handful of optional prompts for those who need inspiration, though)
- Participants will register and will be paired up by the WRITE admins into teams of two (or three if we have an odd number for the last group)
- each story should be at least 10,000 words (or 10 chapters, whichever comes first) by the end of the month deadline
- Fic should be completed by the deadline, though we'll still take an incomplete work and use it for the sake of review
- Upon completion, paired writers will offer their work up to the other for review/critique
- No winners, no losers, just ponyfic. Ponyfic everywhere.

2) Pony Speedfic Grand Prix
Concept:
MOST of us know our niche. As writers, we know what we're good at, and we tend to stay in the types of genres that we're comfortable with. One of the keys to being a good, well-rounded author is flexibility, though, and working outside of your comfort zone is a great way to grow as an artist. And while most of us wouldn't be comfortable to devote an entire story to a foreign field, everyone is capable of flashfic and/or scenes. Besides the idea of working outside of our comfort zones, very short scenes are a fantastic way of honing the writing craft by focusing very intently on a particular literary technique or style.

Guidelines:
- Every monday for the duration of the contest, the week's prompt will be put up, and participants will complete a short story/scene in the given genre
- Each week's entry should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words, with any part of a story/scene beyond 1,750 words being disregarded
- Genres to be used: Adventure, Sad, Dark, Comedy, Slice of Life, Horror
- The deadline for entry each week is Wednesday night at 11:59pm EST
- Before Saturday, the WRITE admins will vote and sort the entries into a place order, with regards to details such as mechanics, tone, characters, how well the genre of the week is represented, and overall impression
- Points are awarded to all participants with the best fic receiving 10, next best 9, etc, down until all remaining entries receive a minimum of 1 point
- A running total of the scores and overall totals will be available on WRITE's FiMFiction.net forum
- At the end of the event, point totals are tallied and the overall leader is the winner of the event

Please lend us any ideas or suggestions in the comments below (or just in Skype chat if you're not in the actual group), and if you're interested in participating in either of these events, please be sure to let a WRITE admin know.
