Most of you may be aware that I've still yet to upload the next parts of the "Campaigns" I've been working on. However, there is some background information you guys might want to know. It doesn't relate directly to the previous scenario but it will become key information in the future. In case some of you are confused, this is part of the "Coup D'etat" Series.

The First Age, often times referred to as the Age of the Alicorn by some scholars, was a time when alicorns were just as abundant as the other three tribes (Earth Pony, Pegasus, and Unicorn). The alicorns went generally unseen by the other three tribes. During this time period, there were very limited interactions between the Alicorns and the other three tribes, thus limiting the knowledge of their existence to a small number of ponies.

Members of the different sects of the alicorn tribe generally shared a similar branch of specialized talent between them. It was not uncommon to find a sect of alicorn who all specialized in talents of spirit or ethereal base, while another group may have talents focused upon nature and earth. Each sect would gather together, and while they existed as a dominant force among the four tribes, would claim the skies above the cloud level upon floating islands.

Each of these floating islands varied in size, most being just large enough for a home and some farming land. The largest of these floating islands was their capital.

Technology of alicorns was broad and vast, ranging from pure magic, to magitech, and many things in between. Those with talents more based in nature may have favored potion-brewing and other, more traditional forms of magic, where as alicorns with a talent for metallurgy may have sought out and created complicated magitech devices.

Actual physical evidence of this period, outside of the small little bits and pieces that expanded into many different epic poems, or inflated oral myths, remains scant, and is very difficult to uncover. Very little solid evidence has been found of their existence, and most of the information that did survive details or otherwise involves the encounter and subsequent war with Discord, Lord of Chaos.

The Alicorns had grown complacent in their superiority over the other three races. The appearance of Discord was seen as a grave threat to the superior position they had previously enjoyed.

It was not long before war broke out between the Alicorns and Discord. In the end, they could not bind or control the chaos that was Discord, let alone compete with it, and the race of Alicorns was almost entirely wiped out. The exact details of exactly how Discord managed to destroy an entire race remains unknown. Only Discord, Celestia and Luna know the truth, and neither party seems particularly likely to share the secret.

With their defeat, most of their floating islands were lost, either falling from the sky, rocketing up into space, or simply vanishing, their true locations long-since lost. Legends say that the capital city still survives, and remains hidden, somewhere high above the clouds of Equestria.

Despite this, it is still possible to find real, solid evidence of the existence of the Alicorns; ignoring, of course, the last two surviving members of that lost race.

Although rare, artefacts relating to the Age of the Alicorns can, and have been found. It is regrettable that most of the surviving artifacts are leftovers of the War with Discord. Many are either weapons themselves, or other items related to the art of warfare.

Some of you may even have heard of the more famous examples of the re-discovered technology. The so called "Alicorn Amulet", a powerful artifact that serves to amplify the wearer's magic by almost ten times the norm, is a particularly well-known example of the sort of thing that has been left behind. Evidence of the Civilian life of the Alicorns, however, is almost non-existent.

BTW, from what point in canon does the campaign start from? Is Discord "rehabilitated" now?

Is Discord "rehabilitated" now?

Sort of. He's agreed not to actively work against Celestia or the Elements, but he doesn't answer to them.
