Anypony else find it strange that Sunny and her father had so many artifacts from ancient Equestria? There was the Journal sunny kept, a feather apparently having belonged to Twilight, a map of Twilight's Equestria, it seems funny to me. Unless she's somehow related to her.
Hitch maybe related to Fluttershy. Even before he can understand animals they are drawn to him. And though Fluttershy was a meek pony she would anything to protect her friends. Also she tries to keep things civil between her friends which Hitch does the same thing.
Zipp has a lot in common with Rainbow Dash. She wants find her own identity. She maybe a princess but isn't afraid to get down in dirty to find out the truth about the past. Anypony else think Zipp's home is actually Canterlot? Because even though it is modern-day it still looks a lot like Canterlot.
Pipp is a lot like Rarity. Always starting trends and being there for others.
Izzy is a lot like Pinky Pie. Ready to be friends and calm others down. And being very creative.
I was planning to do a somewhat unique gen5 story. Anypony want more details?
Yeah. I'm pretty sure ALL of the G5 Mane Six are probably descendants of the G4 Mane Six (most likely distantly related to multiple members from different branches of the family).
Hitch, yeah, is likely to be descended from Fluttershy (though, given who she likely married, he would probably be really shocked to see one of HIS descendants being a "law and order" type) as well as Applejack (as big as the Apple Family is, it is VERY possible for Hitch to be descended from both Fluttershy AND Applejack from much different branches).
Izzy is ALMOST DEFINITELY a Pinkie Pie descendant.
And, yes, Zipp and Pipp (as well as their mother Haven) are both very likely to have both Rarity AND Rainbow Dash among their ancestors (from far different branches)
Misty (as well as her father Alphabittle) is quite likely to have both Fluttershy AND one of the more powerful G4 unicorns amongst their ancestors (from much different branches, which would also make Misty a VERY distant cousin to Hitch)
I'm pretty sure Rufus from the Tell Your Tale series is a less arrogant descendant of Trixie (but Rufus isn't one of the main group, so I might have gone a little too far into this).
Anyway, I am curious as to what you have in mind.

There's also Toots being related to Snipes due to similar color schemes, and in the comics, Tracy is inspired by the Apple Family designs, mostly Applejack
