I’m curious to know your opinion on this

So, I’ve been toying around with origin ideas, and two interesting ideas popped up in my head.

1. A character bends the truth to make it sound like something is their fault because it makes it sound like they did try to prevent it.

And 2. A character feels worst about something not being their fault than they would be if it was.

It’s just an idea that appeared in my mind and I want to know if you know of any stories that have done that or would like me to creat one with these two ideas.
