Oh my god I can’t believe I forgot to mention this at least once because I think it’s really funny 😭 for context the reformed changelings don’t happen in my universe they stay their lovely creepy bug-like selves because I like that idea better than just changing their whole personalities/appearances in an instant
Mothball absolutely has a childish crush on Pharynx and he believes it started purely because the guy was the first changeling (male especially minus his father of course) he’d seen since he was a little kid and he instinctively latched onto that. He excuses it as a convenient crush that way and is perfectly aware of the fact that nothing will come from it cause Pharynx is a respectable adult and finds it rather annoying (sometimes it’s endearing enough to make him want to smile but he wouldn’t outwardly make that obvious). Whenever Pharynx is in ponyville with thorax to discuss things with twilight, mothball tends to stare at him so much that he once ran into a wall and possibly a pole but we don’t talk about that one—
Screwball essentially reacted like the “nothing is going to come between our love Judy nothing!” Meme and I might actually draw that out if I feel like it

Man is just tired and grumpy most of the time but it’s a fun contrast to thorax’s lighthearted and shy nature, they give “excuse me, he asked for no pickles” energy. Although I do also like the possibly explanation of Thorax’s more soft and non-confrontational nature is because he was born with the naturally softer instincts of the typical male changeling, a rarity in chrysalis’s hive as they try to wipe that clean from the newer generations of her changelings. If anything pharynx just felt an instinct to protect his brother because of that and just didn’t realize it until it was pointed out years later
And Mothball would probably be the one to explain this as a possibly reasoning to thorax while he’s pretending to not sweat over pharynx’s intimidating yet weirdly attractive self

It’s literally impossible to not sweat over Pharynx’s attractive and intimidating self. He’s honestly the perfect character to break the in-universe gender stereotypes of the changeling culture.
